Denver ADAP feedback?

I am facing the possibility of a move to the Denver area.

Anyone know how ADAP works in CO?  Mainly, how long to establish residency, and if there's a waiting list?

I'm calling with my questions tomorrow (CO Dept. of Public Health and/or Colorado AIDS Project), but thought I would check with you guys, too.

I'm on Medicare w/Part D, and right now WA State ADAP picks up the balance on their formulary medications, and pays the prescription deductible and donut hole.

Any information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Just left Denver a few months ago so let me try to answer a few of your questions.

It's located at the west end of Speer Blvd just past the I25 freeway. Look for the multi building office complex (Diamond Hill) on the south side of the street. If you come to Viking park on the south side of Speer you've gone to far.

Easiest way to orient is: Mountains are to the west. If their on your left you're headed north. If their on your right you're headed south. Never believe a street when it says North/East/South/West ABC ave. South Hampden runs east - west. Same with Speer, north and south are actually east and west. Got it?

I was never impressed with CAP. I felt they were more concerned with signing you up as a client than helping you. I never once had contact after my initial appointment. It seemed as though they wanted me to sign up as a client to boost their funding base and after that they didn't give a shit. Here's your forms, the Dept of Health is on Colorado Blvd look up the fax number and good luck getting assistance.

CAP used to have a pretty decent food pantry, and a program to disperse tickets to events (ArtReach) in Denver. I never had need to use the pantry.

ArtReach is hit and miss. Once in a while you can find a good show, other times there's weeks between events that seem interesting. The quality of the tickets declined over the years and the venues have became further and further from metro Denver. IE: Boulder, Thorton, Broomfield, Golden and such. If you have a car you can attend, those using public transportation were SOL. CAP sources tickets from a central ArtReach administrator, they pass out based on a mysterious formula.

My biggest disappointment with CAP was when they left downtown Denver for an office complex far from most of their clients. For most it went from a ten minute walk to a 45 minute bus ride. I 'll shut-up now and let you make your own decisions and form your impressions.

I had CICP (ADAP) through University Of Colorado Hospital. (UCH)  Superb care, an attached compassionate and expeditious pharmacy, (Randy, the head pharmacist,  is an amazing gent. Kind, soft spoken, and truly concerned about his clients well being. I saw him wave more than a few co-pays)  The labs run through a high tech laboratory with results in hours instead of days. If you can get either Dr. Campbell or PA Whitney Starr you'll be in the best of hands.

The most helpful person I found as far as ADAP was Audrey at UCH. Audrey something... I can't read her last name signature. She's on the first floor financial aid office. Contact number 720-848-1025. Their hours are somewhat jumbled so call ahead to make sure you can get in. No appointment needed. UCH is inconvenient if you're without a car, but RTD has multiple bus runs from downtown. I've been to both Denver General and UCH for treatment. UCH is so superior to DG it's not funny.

As for the Colorado dept of health and Ryan White/ADAP, I've misplaced my ADAP connection info. Call Nancy Wolff at 303-692-2746, she's an ID counselor and will point you in the right direction. Nancy can answer all your residency questions.
