I'm still wondering how he made over $200 million from The Apprentice.  No one makes that kind of money on TV, unless you have a hit show and have ownership in the show and get all that money from reruns.  I'm sure Seinfeld has made that, from syndication and ownership.

If he really made that kind of money, the actors on hit shows should be demanding more money.

I'm enjoying the entire Shit Show !
and yes it is getting better everyday...
My take is the Donald will run as an Independent, throwing a huge monkey
wrench into things. Thus leaving a clear path for Hillary,
interesting theory..... think they're on the same side ?

Hey Ted,

There is big money in TV, especially hit series.  The three main characters on The Big Bang (Sheldon, Lenard and Penny) now make one million dollars per episode.  Judge Judy makes over 30 million per year.  Add in the money from also being an executive director or producer and reruns and 200 million can be made rather easily over many years.

But, his show didn't pull in those kind of ratings.  From what I've read, the first two seasons had good ratings and then just enough to justify keeping it on the air.  His reality show won't be in reruns, except maybe on some cable channel, like CNBC, which won't pull in syndication money like Big Bang or Seinfeld.  Even if the Big Bang stars had made $1 million per episode from the beginning (22 episodes the norm), they still would not have made over $200 million for the run of the show until now.  Collectively, they have not made $200 million.  Their big money comes from back end deals for merchandise and reruns.

If he really made that, then I guess he is a good businessman.  Reality shows just don't pay that kind of money, unless you're talking Simon on Idol.  I think he left at $30 million a season?  But his show was pulling in 30 million viewers.

I don't believe anything Trump says, especially concerning his own unsubstantiated wealth.  He makes most of his money by licensing his name, not through any actual work.  He was born into wealth, lost his daddies money and made his wealth, with the help of at least 3 bankruptcies.  No matter how rich he is, I can't wait for the Aug 6 debates.

There is a good article in Newsweek titled "The Republicans Brought the Trump Circus on Themselves".

www.newsweek.com/republicans-brought-trump-circus-themselves-357965

It points out that Trump is the symptom not the cause of the Republican's situation, and in fact the party's own rhetoric created (and continues to feed) Trump's rise.  I thought it was a pretty thoughtful piece -- and was surprised to see that it was written by someone from the Brookings Institute.

On a much less serious note, perhaps we should help Donald pick his running mate.  Any suggestions?  I will throw out the obvious -- Sarah Palin.
