possibly infected
« on: December 03, 2015, 04:47:13 pm »
I had an encounter with a stripper, no sex but oral and fingering and im concerned i may have put myself at risk. This was about 2 months ago. A couple weeks after the encounter i had a stiff neck for like two weeks and some back pain that lasted a while. I usually am very fatigued but lately its been more than usual. I now have a cold and am very tired. I cant help but think im infected. I took an oraquick a couple days ago and it looked negative. As i kept staring at it i could swear i could see a faint grey line next to the t. I dont know if its there or if my eyes are playing tricks on me. Has anyone else been in a situation like this im freaking out

You can relax as you never had a risk.  Oral sex is not a risk for infection.  HIV is a very fragile virus.  Its outer surface becomes damaged, immediately when leaving the host; where changes in temperature, pH and moisture levels, alter the HIV outer surface, rendering it unable to infect.  The mouth is another barrier, as it protects us from pathogens that we encounter daily and it contains over a dozen proteins and enzymes that alter HIV, leaving it unable to infect.

There have been no fewer than three separate serodiscordant couples studies (where one person is HIV positive, the other negative.)  These couples were tracked for three. five and ten years.  The couples used condoms for penetrative vaginal and anal sex, but NO BARRIER at all for oral sex.  Any kind of oral sex.

These studies yielded NO infections.

Fingering is also not a risk, as that is not how HIV is transmitted.  You have not had any risk at all and you do not need to test over this incident.  If you are unwell please see your doctor as it has nothing to do with HIV.

HIV is sexually transmitted from unprotected anal and vaginal sex … you cant get HIV from getting a blow job or fingering, no one ever has. The window period for testing is 3 months past any possible exposure so since you did not have a risk in this incident and this is your only concern in the last 3 months you are conclusively HIV negative.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks for the fast responses i appeciate it. Now that i can put that to rest, i am sexually active and my one concern is with the oraquick. It seems as if there was a line next to the T that was extremely faint, but im not sure. It kind of looked like a very light grey line should i be concerned with that? Is it only colored lines i should be concerned with?

Stop bothering yourself about lines/shmines on the Oraquick.  You had absolutely no risk for HIV.

Let it go, keep condoms handy for intercourse and get on with your life.  If any symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor.  They have nothing to do with HIV. Period.

We cannot read your test for you.  If you are unsure of the result, you should consult the place where you got the test.
