Risk information please !
« on: December 25, 2013, 12:59:32 pm »
Hello,

I was just hoping to get some information about my infection risk if possible.

I was with a girl I just met at a party and we started messing around. She performed oral sex on me and then after that I fingered her for a while. We were both naked. After a few minutes of me fingering her she climbed on top of me and grabbed my penis and attempted to insert it into her vagina. As soon my penis touched the opening to her vagina I immediately stopped her and pushed her off. I could feel some wetness on my penis, because I had just been fingering her, but I stopped before any penetration.

What is my risk of infection based on the situation above?

Check,

You did not have a risk for hiv infection.

Getting a blowjob isn't a risk.

Fingering isn't a risk.

Penis/vaginal area contact without penetration isn't a risk.

In adults, hiv is transmitted by:

Unprotected anal intercourse.

Unprotected vaginal intercourse.

Sharing drug injecting equipment.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY OVER ANY OF THE ACTIVITIES YOU LISTED, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you for your reply Ann,

Glad to hear someone that knows what they're talking about thinks I'm safe. I appreciate what you do on this website.

Have a nice day!

First of all I want to say I know I am at risk I would just really appreciate some advice regarding the extent of the risk, and how to move forward.

I was at a party and this woman I have never met hopped on top of me and inserted my penis into her with no condom. I was super out of it and barely even had an erection. As soon as I realized what was happening I pushed her off had no more contact with her .

I have an appointment to get an early detection HIV test, its scheduled for two weeks after the incident.

What do you think I should do? How at risk am I?

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep everything in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

Its in your favor that you were the insertive partner, its also in your favor that brief insertions or condom breaks rarely result in the transmission of HIV . We can’t give you odds on transmission but advise that you should test but can expect a negative result .
