Am I infected? Kindly help please
« on: May 09, 2009, 07:27:39 am »
Hi Chaps,

I am 33 years of age and from Singapore. I went to a brothel reluctantly last Saturday. I had a bit of a foreplay with a girl there, touching her boobs, and also kissing her boobs for about 10-15 secs. then i touched her vagina for about 5 secs. then i asked her to give a handjob which she did for about 30 secs. Then i tried to wear the condom.. Here please note that i touched her vagina before wearing the condom.. Then i never got it hard and lost interest and i left he place immediately. The whole thing just lasted for 10 mins... I think i have not done anything risky here... But i have so many symptoms which perfectly match the symptoms i find in the internet. I have nonstop fever, heavy cold and flum, extreme fatigue and continuous sneezing.. But just to add, i had a night out last monday drunk both alcoholic and nonalcoholic cold drinks.. I am really worried about my symptoms and met a doctor on Friday. She insisted i have to wait for the aids test done, but i was sort of hellbent and asked her to collect the blood and she says the results will be out on Monday. I am pretty anxious as i am a father of 2 and i am going to meet my family in 3 weeks time.. I did a great mistake by going to the brothel but i returned back not doing any risky things. I was happy for a day about that but once i started developing these symptoms i am really really worried. Can somebody help please?

Thanks in advance.

Ram,

Absolutely nothing you did or had done to you was a risk for hiv infection. Kissing, anywhere on the body, is not a risk for hiv infection. Getting a handjob, with or without a condom, is not a risk. Touching a vagina with your hands/fingers is also not a risk.

Sexually speaking, the only confirmed risk is unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. You didn't have intercourse of any sort, so you weren't at risk.

Thanks very much for the prompt response. Just one quesiton. I have been in Singapore for the past 3 years and haven't had an episode of fever at all.. So i am a bit concerned about the reasons of my present medical condition which is extreme fatigue and tiredness, fever on and off.. Hopefully this is some other form of flu... I am a naturally anxious person and might be contributing to my ill-health by putting too much of pressure on me.. Anyway this is a great site and i find fantastic information about HIV/AIDS...

forgot to mention i have diarohea and nausea as well since last tuesday... i am on medication but it doesn't seem to help a week bit..

Ram,

Nobody can diagnose you over the internet. If you feel unwell, you'll have to see a doctor in person.

What we CAN tell you, is that you had no risk for hiv infection. This means whatever is making you feel ill has NOTHING to do with hiv. No way, no how.

If you go to a brothel again, just make sure you're using a condom for anal or vaginal intercourse and you'll be just fine where hiv is concerned. Condoms have been PROVEN to prevent hiv infection. Read through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use them with confidence.

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection. If you continue to feel unwell, see a doctor. It's nothing to do with hiv.

Ram,

You're welcome.

Try to let go of the guilt you feel in relation to this matter and you'll probably feel a whole lot better. You're only human and made a mistake in regards to straying from your relationship with your children's mother, but there's no point in beating yourself up over it. Learn from it, let it go, and move on.

I went to the doctor today. I told about the incident and she asked me whether the girl had any broken skin in the hand. I said i am not sure... Then she has given some tables for my diarhoea and phlegm and the fever. She said if want to have a peace of mind, i can take the HIV test. The doctor suspected my condition for gastric flu as i have a severe nausea problem... I really regret having gone there. as a very anxious person i am, i go paranoid easily..

I am meeting my family in another 2 weeks time.. want to clear the air. I am waiting for my test results on monday. I will keep you posted..

Many thanks for all your replies.

Ram,

It doesn't matter if she had broken skin on her hand or not. Getting a handjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection. Not one person has ever been infected this way and you certainly won't be the first. Don't be surprised by your negative hiv result.

thanks Ann. You are very prompt.. Thanks for clearing the air on the hand job.

The doctor has also advised to get a lipid profile done tomorrow. This came from the fact i have some persistent giddiness and nausea....

My blood test results came today and i am positive for mycoplasma antibodies.. this is the first time i am hearing this.. and the doctor said all my symptoms like nausea, giddiness, diarohea are all manifested by this bacteria... When i heard the word "antibodies" i went a bit paranoid.. Is it sign of things to come? Kindly clarify. Just to add, they will give my HIV test results on wednesday.

Chaps you are doing a service that is unmatched. I am really grateful to you.

One condition has nothing to do with the other. And bear in mind what Ann has told you. You did not have a risk for HIV transmission. Period.

I certainly expect your HIV test result to be negative. Good luck with getting the other condition squared away.

Cheers.
