One year down........
« on: September 11, 2007, 04:34:06 pm »
well this past weekend marked the end of my first year since diagnosis....It was strange. I tried not to dwell or mark the occasion, but I did reflect on how much my life has changed.  Looking back it was a pretty rough year emotionally.  I am proud of myself for getting through it.  I hope each year gets a little easier....

And why not have all your feelings and dwell and also appreciate that you've made it through a challenging year, and here you are! And since you are HIV+, we're glad you found your way here to our site.

Look, you've come through. Cheers to you and just keep chugging along!

I'm running about 8 months ahead of you.  I'll say the first year is rough... mine was very rough, particularly on the emotional side as you describe.  But I think it gets better.  I think you adjust.  I don't think about being positive daily.  I went on meds early so I have my daily pills... but even that that, I find I go full days sometimes and the fact that I'm poz is only a passing thought.  Life goes on and it can be good.  Just take care of yourself and be aware of what is going on in your body.

You have made it through one of the most difficult times.  That's not saying it is easy from here on.  But congratulations on making it though year 1!

Hey Racingmind, congrats on making it through the 1st year!! It is a tough one.

I'm about to mark the 2nd year since I was infected next month, and life is pretty good now ( of course, except for the HIV).

I wish you the best~

The first year is probably the hardest emotionally.  Glad you're taking care of yourself.  Just feel whatever you're feeling and keep going.
