"V"
« on: November 04, 2009, 07:41:06 am »
Did anyone else catch the series premier of "V"?  I didn't like it too much.  It wasn't bad but I think it probably would've been more interesting and exciting as a mini series instead of a series.

The first 10 minutes were cool, but after that...not sure.  I'll give it a couple of more episodes, but if it's going to be a 4-year drag-out like Lost, I'll have to skip.  Too many subplots. I also think they gave away too many secrets in the first episode.

as a mini series instead of a series.
well, the way it'll be aired ::) is closer to a mini than an actual series

Four episodes of V will air in November 2009, and the series will resume in March 2010 after the 2010 Winter Olympics to complete the 13 episode series.     http://www.tvguide.com/News/ABCs-V-Break-1010227.aspx

I watched it too. I thought it was fairly interesting though I could tell all along (and was really sad) that the cute kid was going to fall for the blonde lizard girl. :'( I thought the sleeper-cell twist was decent, though it was also sad that the cute FBI partner turned out to be a crazy lizard man.  ::)

Heroes was much better this week with their time-travel back to the first season, and I've really been intrigued by Flash Forward.

The first series of V did not conclude, left a lot of un answered questions.  Maybe they are finally going to answer those questions.  I thought it was cool, but ewwww

I downloaded it, seeing its not going to be on TV here until god knows when...

I really enjoyed it!!! It did seem to jump into the long term plot a little too quickly, if memory serves, the original didn't quite jump into the plot so fast.. (ie, introduction of the fifth column already..)

and damn.. don't I wish they lingered more on the scott wolf shower scene, lol

I'm hanging out for next week's episode already :-)

it's called "re-imagining", don't you know? ;) (just like they did to Trek)

you think you know the plot; but they just "stole" the characters/plot. Sorta like visual mash-ups. :D At best, it's either a brillant strategy to breathe life back into some tired old stories/franchises; or at worse, it shows how bereft of ideas the studios are nowadays, and it's plagiarism/theft of intellectual property. ::)

as you can see, I haven't made up my mind totally yet. I "think" I like what they did to Trek. We'll have to see what ST12 is like though. As far as "V" after just one ep, I miss hunky Marc Singer  :-*

I was gettng the refresher course from the original, SyFy had been showing it over the weekend. I saw the middle of the new episode last night so I can't say if I like it yet. But all it seem like I was doing was comparing small things between the two series....like in the original the V leader was John, in the new one it's a woman named Anna. Is this suppose to be a remake of the original or a future group of V's?

I also saw it and give it a "meh."  I agree that it seemed to jump into the plot too quickly.  I saw the original over the weekend and was less rushed and a bit more suspenseful.  All I know is that they'd better show that famous scene of the female leader deepthroating a mouse!

Can't believe I missed the Scott Wolf shower scene!  Must find it now!

I also saw some episodes of the original on SyFy....mmmmm, Marc Singer, he sure was able to wear tight jeans and an open shirt like no one else! Definite 80's!
This version is more of a reboot. Perfect example as Leatherman mentioned, is Star Trek.

Yea, everything seemed to happen so quickly, a little rushed but I'll continue to watch it. BUT, since it's only going to show thru the month of November and not return until January.....the next several episodes have to be really good in order for me to continue seeing it when it returns.  There better be a mouse scene somewhere in there!  :D

The first V felt like an extended tedious rehash of the Twilight Zone episode, 'To Serve Man'.  The second V feels like an extended tedious rehash of the rehash.  It just feels like the same old thing with better special effects.  It's like going to a new, improved strip mall of bland entertainment.

The original V was fierce!  Diana and that hair, the lizard baby, cute cast, etc.

I liked the first episode, especially liked the sleeper cell "they have been here for years" twist in this one.  I will be watching.

The perv in me enjoyed the crotch shot of the guy on the aliens torture table.  :D Though I thought aliens were supposed to give anal probes, not make people see imaginary snakes  ;D

and I love the way Anna blinks really fast when she gets pissed about something

So did I! I think it was an automatic reaction to look straight at the crotch!  :D

....but I'm still not liking the series as much as I thought I would.

I thought it was so-so.   Too many twists and turns, one of those shows where you don't know who to trust, who is going to turn out to be a V, etc....

On a sad note, MadMen ended this season last Sunday night.   I love that show.

Also, Nip/Tuck is o.k., but completely off the chain this year.....it's like anything that pops into the writers' minds makes it to the script.   Matt being a theiving, convenience store robbing mime?   It's quite "over the top".......but I'll keep watching.

Alan, I missed this past Wednesday episode of Nip/Tuck.....Looks like Matt got pretty messed up from what I saw on previews. Did he really shoot Christian? Couldn't watch it because my bf was watching basketball.

Did the original series star the guy who played Freddy Kruger in the Friday 13th movies?  If that's it, I was a kid when it originally aired and LOVED it (from what I remember).

LOL...You got it part right. The guy that played Freddy Krueger is Robert Englund and his horror movie was Nightmare on Elm St not Friday the 13th. The slasher in the Friday the 13th movies is Jason Voorhees.

I remember very little of it.  For some odd reason, I remember the tongues and the episode when the little baby lizzard was born in a cave (I may only be 1/2 right about the cave part ;))
