Title: Roid rage without the roids?
Post by: buginme2 on January 15, 2014, 05:25:35 pm
So,  it's a known fact that HIV can cause low levels off testosterone leading to fatigue and overall lack lusternesd.   Can it cause the opposite effect?   For awhile now ( approaching a year) I  have become much more aggressive.

I've never done steroids or taken testosterone but I can only imagine it being kind of how I feel.   I'm incredibly horny all the time (tmi)  to the point where it's kind of become intrusive.   My sexual needs have increased passed my partners  and we've always been very similar in that aspect.

Also,  I've gotten much  more aggressive lately.   Today when I was trying to negotiate s parking spot downtown some ashole  started honking at me.  I  actually got out of the car walked over to him and yelled at him to get out of his car or shut the Fuck up.   Completely ready to fight.

When I started taking Atripla  years ago I  noticed how it sorts of have me a constant boner.   That has seem to have exacerbated and continued with Complera.

I guess I should mention this to my doctor.  just wondering if anyone else had gone through something similar.

Positive effect,  I've never worked out so much and an looking pretty good lately.haha

Well although I hate to admit it yes. Sadly not the sexual bit but there is in my history some er unfortunate incidents. In my case I think no I know I have to put it down to under a degree off stress I can in certain situations be a complete plonker, tosser, idiot , prat and male.

I did not address the huge amount off anger that illness had create in me , now I have a Quicker reaction to the warning signs and take steps to dis engage from the situation asap.

Take care and do what you have to do to avoid something that you could really regret , Apart from one incident with an obese nurse I regret all the times when I lost it .

Efavirenz in Atripla can cause rage.
Ask your doc if the same might be true of the drugs in complera.

People who get rage on Atripla or the same drugs as are in Atripla need to switch!!

The rilpivirine (Edurant) portion of Complera can also cause mood swings just like Sustiva, although it is a bit less common. I very much suspect that those who are sensitive to the CNS side effects of Sustiva are going to be more susceptible to CNS side effects with other NNRTIs.

Yes, you should definitely talk to your doctor about this and don't let him tell you it's all in your head or whatever.

This has been my thinking as well. If I was a patient with sustiva/atripla CNS issues the last thing I would do is switch to something in the same NNRTI class. Even if clinical trial data shows a lesser % prone to this everyone should keep in mind that in a few years as more patient data is available that number will likely increase, not decrease.

I feel a lot better without the Complera the depression was killing me

however the Nortriptyline 25mg once a day along with the Trazoodone 100 mg seems to take the edge off somewhat
and works well for the Peripheral neuropathy

Bugs, talk to your doctor about the way you've been feeling

I'm really not convinced this has anything to do with complera, per se.

There are other drugs I take besides Complera ( it's just one of many).

was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing, if it was drug related I would have expected more I think. I dunno.  im perplexed.   I'm gonna go screw now.

Thanks for the feedback  I'm constantly amazed at how this stupid virus seems to interject itself in every aspect of my  life.   Stupid little fucker.

Well, if it makes you happy I could add in that irritability and anger questions are standard features on chronic depression intake forms.

Hey Bug,

Yes, low test can cause you to become aggressive, because that is what happened to me, when my test hit bottom.  I tried treating it, first with shots and then gel, but they both made into "Mad Max", ready to kill at the slightest thing.  I stopped treating it years ago and somehow my levels have stabilized to a decent level for me.  I still have a libido and I no longer want to kill people and small furry things.
