I think I've never worried a bit about it, to be honest.  Why?  Because the plain ol' original AIDS I have could still kill me anyway, so I'm not going to live in fear of re-infection or Super AIDS.

That's just me.

HIV+ people still get sick -- are you going to panic about this subject every year when you get a cold?

#1--Talk to your heath care provider.

Do you know your resistance profile?  Do you know your partner's resistance profile?  What is your medication adherence like?  What is your partner's medication adherence like?  What is your current STD status?  What is your partner's current STD status?  When you say 'unprotected sex', what exactly do you mean?  Different sexual acts have different risks for HIV transmission and STD acquisition--so it matters which act and what specifically you were doing.

Knowing all of this ahead of time can help you have an informed decision about the sexual life you choose--without the 'freak-out' factor.  In this case, information AND honest communication not only equals power, but can also equal a more satisfying sexual life.

#2 --Talk to your health care provider.

If having unprotected sex with your friend is continually making you feel panicked then why do it?

Good sex!

I am of the same opinion as thunter.
