Any good new TV shows?
« on: July 14, 2014, 12:19:05 pm »
Extant?
Crossbones?
The Strain?

I'm watchng MTV's Faking It - HS comedy about 2 straight girls who fake a lesbian relationship to become popular.  ::)

Also bbc two's summer series The Honourable Woman - very timely. & super chic.

______

Slowly watching S2 of Orange is the New Black.
Wondering if S2 of Hemlock Grove will be any fun.

That tired old horse True Blood has some good scenes this season.

I just discovered Sherlock, which isn't new, and enjoyed the first two seasons.

The RHWNJ has started its new season.  I do like Sherlock when I catch it.  I've also tried to get into "Under the Dome" but am not totally sure if I'll stick with it.

"teen wolf" is back on, along with "Under the Dome" (the fastest hour of TV I've ever watched. I'm very saddened by the crap that is now "True Blood" (though Sunday nite's eppy was finally a good one). "The Strain" was a great book series; but now that it'll be on TV, who knows.

BTW the penny dreadful season ending was nice. "Do you want to be normal?"

How long do i have to wait for "Game of Thrones" to return?? Ack!

I'm loving "The Last Ship".

I caught the first installment of "The Strain" last night, it was ok, but the idea of a winged creature in the cargo hold of an airplane is kinda yawn for me. I think I actually fell asleep before the end so maybe it got better.

I'm liking "NY Med", I mean who doesn't like to see the comings and goings in a real NYC ER.

I think the above 3 are all that ahve ranked high enough for me to set it up to record on my DVR.

Ps- Extant is good so far too.

I look forward to the return of Game of Thrones as well but I did start watching a new show called The Leftovers.  It seems pretty good and Justin Theroux is nice looking in his own way.

Yeah I was going to watch the Leftovers just to check out what all the fuss is about Theroux's hotness.

Miam miam Benedict Cumberbatch and that sexy villain Andrew Scott... Oh I would have loved to see him and Ben Whishaw in "Cock" at the Royal Court Theatre

the first season was based on the book. It was planned to only be a one time summer show; but with the high rating, the producers changed the story during the last few episodes so that it could be continued into this second season. this second season is in unknown territory for the most part.

They very much hinted that the continued story will be biblical in nature; the 10 plagues of Egypt.

Was trying to figure out who that hottie CDC guy in The Strain is, then gave up and searched the Internet. Its that cutie Corey Stoll who was so delicious (and balding) in House of Cards, and now with a hairpiece.

Love The Dome. Tyrant is good (MA rating).
I've never seen ER, NCIS etc, , HOC, Game of Thrones, but since dx addicted to Helix, The Last Ship, Strain.
Peculiar, all virus based.
Though still hard to beat the old standby Antiques Roadshow.

When in Belfast last month went to Game of Thrones exhibit. It meant nothin to me lookin at costumes and crap. My traveling 'escort' was practically doing somersaults and cartwheels. He couldn't believe it. He loves the show.

I never read the book but might have to now.

I thought the book was great!  Though, I am a big Stephen King fan and have read most of his stuff.  I stopped watching the show after the 3rd episode last season as it had veered too far off from the book already.  I can't bring myself to watch it now.

The only summer series I watch is Falling Skies.  I'm a bit behind, only watched the first episode so far -- but this season seems like it might be a bit "busy" with too many characters separated and in different (but similar) story lines.  Hopefully they "fix" that soon.

I watched The Strain first ep last night.
Its extremely comic book and pulpy feeling...
I tried to go with that, kind of a 10 year old kid's narrative.  There was one groaner after another.
SPOILERS

Like they find the evil dracula-looking coffin filled with dirt and marked with death masks, looking like it came out of a medieval dungeon by way of the nazis and finally Berlin, with no explanation how it got on the plane of dead people, and they blithely leave it in the storage area and go back looking for mysterious bacteria.... Hmmm.  groan....   ;D >:( >:(

The old armenian shows up at a locked down airport crawling with every known law enforcement and intelligence agency, and he knows things he couldn't know and of course everyone dismisses him as a crazy coot. groooooooan...

What's that, stay alone in a locked morgue to cut open 200+ bodies died mysteriously on the cold death plane, but showing growth of new organs?  No problem, I'll just listen to the radio.....lada dee da la da dee da. whats that noise?  groan......  >:( >:( >:( :o :o ;)

Pass the popcorn, please.

Love the Good wife, ncsi and criminal minds .

I'm not a huge tv person but I enjoy all 3 of these shows, especially NCIS.  I find matthew Gray Gubler sexy as hell.  IMO, he's one of the hottest actors on tv and he gets to play with Shamar Williams each week.  How sexy is that?

New season (series 2 ) of Real Humans (from Sweden) showing on SBS Australia. Even from episode 1 it seems pretty clear the second series will take different directions to series 1. I'm on the edge of my seat already.

The Strain continues to strain against credible characters and actions...  :o
Finally caught The Leftovers and I'm enjoying a number of the actors.  Yeah Justin Theroux sure is purdy too.

What do you think about Vicious on PBS?

Seems a bit forced with the quick paced barbs: http://video.pbs.org/program/vicious/

A pity given the acting chops of the principles.

Ok i saw 2 episodes. I think its charming and very British.  I love the set and costumes and crude lighting.  Its supposed to be hammy.  I laughed out loud a few times like when the dishy upstairs neighbour opens their velvet drapes and they cower in gay vampiric horror at bright light.  Reminded me of when I dated a very old queen one time when I was very young and his apartment was so dim.  ::)
