Hello everybody hope everyone is doing good. I need a little help. On Tuesday I went to a massage place in atlantic city and had sex with a prostitute. It was protected and after the condom looked fine. But yesterday I got a fever of 101.4 with a sore throat and body aches the fever went down over night to 99.4 and now its back to 101.4. Should I be worried or no and I heard a little about lambskin condoms an that they dont protect against hiv so im not sure what kind of condom it was. Should I be worried. Is me being sick right now just coincidence. Thankyou very much everybody

Unless you furnished your own condom, it wasn't a natural lamb skin. Those girls are out to protect themselves and it would have been latex or a poly condom. You were never at risk.

It would not have been a lambskin condom. Sex workers know not to use them and besides, they're really expensive and not readily available.
You did the right thing and used a condom. This means that you were not at risk for hiv. A broken condom is very obvious, so you would have known if there was a problem with yours.
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.
And remember, it's not just sex workers you need to use condoms with - you need to use them no matter who you are with or what you may THINK you know about their sexual history. Use them correctly and consistently and you will avoid hiv infection.

If you are sick see a doctor it doesn't have anything to do with HIV.

You don't seem to get it. You're worrying about whether it's too soon for symptoms when you have had protected intercourse, you weren't at risk and HIV is not your problem. Are you listening?
Whatever is going on symptomatically has nothing to do with HIV. Really. Period. End of story.

I understand but just scared because what if the condom did fail could there have been a little hole in it.
How rare is it for people to show symptoms 3 or 4 days after ive never been this sick before. Very sorry if these are stupid questions.

Condoms are designed that when they fail they fail catastrophically. You would have no doubt if one fails. You wouldn't have symptoms to HIV infection 3 to 4 days after an exposure. If you are ill see a doctor.

When a condom fails it's not with a teensy weensy hole that some imagine. It's quite clear what has happened because it ends up with your penis looking as if there is a fringed hula hoop on it. Get the picture?
You are worrying needlessly. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation. Really.

I understand and trust the things you are sayng I just find it really odd that I started getting sick 3-4 days after and I still have a fever. I havent gotten sick in years.

If you have a concern about being ill see your doctor. It's unrelated to HIV.

Okay I will see my doctor but is it possible to see symtpoms this early or is it rare.

You need to start reading the replies. You were not at risk and what ever your symptoms are, are unrelated to HIV.

all else aside how often to you hear people getting ars symptoms 4 days after a possible exposure.
Im just wondering because I cant shake this fever and body aches. thanks everybody

All else aside, talk to your doctor about your symptoms. They have nothing to do with HIV so there's no point in discussing that any further. Really.

im just paraniod that something was wrong with that condom if i didnt feel sick or have a fever i wouldnt even post anymore. Just wanted to know how rare it is to feel symptoms within 4 days. Thanks

If people experience symptoms - and many don't - they don't appear until between two and four weeks after infection has taken place. NOT four days.
You are going to have to accept the fact that condoms prevent hiv infection. When a condom fails, it's obvious. Yours didn't, otherwise you would have known about it and said so.
Besides, even if the condom did break, I've yet to see an insertive partner in a broken condom situation end up positive.
Go see your doctor about what ails you. Whatever it is, it AIN'T hiv. Got it? Good.

hello again sorry to be a pain is the ass but im still worried. I called the cdc and they told me that symptoms can show up at 4 days and I read on some other sites and some say they could and some say they don't. This is crazy. I think all of you know more about this then anybody from all the studying and all the experience. Have you ever seen or heard of anybody getting symptoms that soon. Thanks for you help.

there could always be a risk i couldnt tell if there was any problems with the condom it looked ok but ya never know between that and having a fever and a sore throat 3 days later, im still scared this sucks.

We've given you the scientific facts and the fact is, condoms prevent hiv infection. My hiv negative partner is living proof of that fact, as are all the other hiv negative partners in relationships with hiv positive people.
