Has anyone gotten help from HOPWA?

It's Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS

I looked into it and my case manager said you have to be behind one month in rent and they only help you for a short period.  Plus I don't want my landlord to know or fill paperwork out or be paid by them and possibly disclose my status.

Doesn't seem to be any real help.

Has anyone been helped by it?

I used HOPWA back around 2008.  I don't know if changes have taken place in the program since then, or if its administration changes from state to state, but, working through my local ASO, HOPWA paid my oil bill for three months in a row.  SO, I didn't get rent help, but the money saved on the oil bill paid the rent..
