ARS and HIV risk?
« on: August 03, 2008, 08:54:01 pm »
Hello All,

I am very worried now.  2.5 weeks ago I had "sorta" protected sex with an escort in Montreal.  The reason why I said "sorta" is because my condom slipped half way off couple times, then I quickly roll back down to the base of my penis both times.  I have vaginal sex with her, for about 50 mins.  Exactly one week later, I have a swollen gland at the back of my neck on the hair line.  Can I be infected with HIV?  I'm really worried now.  Very worried.  Do you think I'm at risk if the escort have HIV? Should I get tested?

Thanks

Provided that the head of your penis was covered all the time during vaginal intercourse you should have no reason to be worried about HIV.

Then what about the symptoms i have....my glands at the back of my neck....

also, I have read somewhere that even if the escort is infected HIV and no condom was in placed, the chances of me getting infect is low with vaginal sex.  is that true?

Well lots of things can cause sore and swollen glands, not just viral infections. What's more many people who have HIV experience no symptoms of acute infection. Therefore, symptoms are not a reliable indicator of infection.

What we focus on here are risk behaviours and test results. As I said so long as the head of your penis remained covered during intercourse, you were not at risk of being infected with HIV. If you are unsure about this get tested 13 weeks from the date of this encounter.

The risk HIV transmission from female to male during vaginal sex is lower for the man.

I will get tested, but do you think its a coincidence that i have swollen glands at the back of my neck, I think i have two now? or maybe i just keep rubbing it.  I'm sure that the condom did slip half way and my head was covered.  But I'm scared that the vaginal fluid might of got inside the condom and into the head of the penis.  Also, if the escort is positive and she knows it, I'm scared that she might of done someting to the condom (like put a little hole in it so her fluid can go into my opening of my penis) since the condom was provided by her....very worried.

Hello,

I am really worried now, i have another swollen node on the side of the neck near the behind of the ear.  It doesn't hurt.  I heard that swollen glands that doesn't hurt are related to HIV ARS.  really Worried.   I have protected sex with CSW in montreal except the condom slipp half way off.  The intercourse was long like 50 mins at least.  I scared.  The condom that the CSW used was provided by her, so I don't know if its latex or not

She doesn't give a rat's ass about protecting you, she's using condoms to protect herself. You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV.

Very worried,

Based on what you have shared in this thread, there is no risk of HIV transmission. Swollen glands that don't hurt could be related to many things.   Based on these facts there is no reason for you to test,  but if testing will cure the horrible amount of anxiety you are feeling and showing here, then do it.   Hopefully the negative result will stop your obsessive worry. A test at 13 weeks is conclusive.

can it be coincidence that i have these symptoms? I don't get these swollen glands too often.   and the first seems like it grows and nows its hard.  Since the condom slipped half way will the vaginal fluid go in to the head of the penis.  and when she took off the condom will it be possible that the fluid accidently got into my penis

No, vaginal fluid would not get into the condom. If you have a concern with the condoms you use they do make smaller ones.

We don't make those sort of value judgments here.

Whether or not someone chooses to purchase the services of a sex worker is ultimately a matter for them. Provided any anal or vaginal sex is fully protected by using latex condom and, there is no risk of HIV being transmitted.

Our remit is HIV education and transmission prevention information.

CSW said I can cum on her two times after that its over.  If she want to protect herself why did she say I can cum on her.  Doesn't semen contain high load of HIV? Also, not sure if the condom is latex, it might be some other type of condom?

CSW said you could cum ON her, not IN her. HIV is not transmitted through skin.

You had no risk in the incident as you described it.
