Risk
« on: July 11, 2014, 10:58:03 am »
I had sex with a hiv positive person which was vaginal sex.  She also gave me protected oral with the same condom.  She was very rough with the oral and may have torn it and I did inspect it and had very brief vaginal sex with her like under 10-15 seconds and just stopped.  I read on here most say that condom did not break but I tell you this condom felt different on the underside of it as there was a split or open tear and i did not inspect it when i took it off and flushed it so it could have been torn. I have had many symptoms which i will not address as I know people say it doesn't matter.  I also took a oraquick oral swab test at home just a little over 6 weeks by a few days and it was negative.  I have read from many that this test is not good enough to depend on for results until 12 weeks.  It now been 8 weeks since exposure and I constantly think about what I have done and how I have placed myself at risk.  Can I get your input on the serval things I listed

Its unlikely that the condom broke and you did not know it but if you are unsure testing was the right thing to do . A negative 6 week test rarely goes on to be positive so you should expect a negative test at 12 weeks when you confirm it .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence .

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

How accurate is the Oraquick home oral swab test? Is that negative just as good as a blood test at 6 weeks. You also state that it is rare for a negative 6 weeks to go on to be positive later would that also apply to this home test? I have had so many people say different things and even seen where Rod on here is constantly stating these test are not accurate until 12 weeks.  I am just want to be able to believe that this will all work it way out and I am negative.  I also where everyone states that condom breaks are always noticeable but I call the manufacture of the condom I wore lifestyle which was a. Polyisoprene Skyn I believe and the lady told me there that they could develop small holes and not be detected.

The home test kit is accurate and you can count on it . Rod is referring to the fact that HIV test must be confirmed at 12 weeks just as I told you . Its rare for a 6 week negative test to go on the be positive when you confirm it at 12 weeks .

As for the condom ... the bottom line is if ever in doubt then do as you did and test .

Thanks for the comments and the quick response at that. Does it matter if the condom did break and the head was not exposed? Also does the fact it was probably 10 seconds or longer account for anything and with exposed skin where the condom may not have covered could it had massaged the virus in through the skin or a cut as I had shaved just a could of hours before and even shaved up my shaft some.

The shaving is not a concern one way or the other . Whats important is that the tip of your penis was covered . You over thinking this ... so if you are uneasy just confirm your negative test at 12 weeks .
