Manservant eh?  Must have serviced him real good for all those years.  If he was actually still servicing him til the end, he deserves it all.  That'll take a lot of therapy to get over. ;D

And that sleeping next to the bed thing on the floor?  I treat my dog better than that.  She has her own comfy bed next to mine, but usually ends up next to me.  I can hear his wife screaming now; "keep that manservant off the furniture!"   LOL  I wonder who had to bathe whom?

Didn't his wife know what was in the will before he died? Wills are not supposed to be like in the movies where everyone is surprised or a game show where people leave with cash and prizes.

Then again I don't have a manservant and multimillion dollar estate in the Caribbean, so what do I know.

Its a terribly ugly story until the ending.  I'm glad the servant got the money.  Neither the deceased nor the widow seem like very likeable people.  I hope that servant spreads that fortune around his own family and betters everyone's lot.  If he wants to throw a bone at the widow, OK.  His choice. The husband obviously disliked his family.

This is by no means his entire fortune is it?  I didn't read closely enough to see that, but I think it's just a large sum of the money and the house in St Lucia

This is so called brilliant but mostly eccentric and always uber social Tennant Family.  Featuring "bright young thing" Stephan Tennant and of course now supermodel Stella.   Its all very jet set and fashionable and this Lord in question once owned the entire island of Mustique and developed it into the private "beautiful people" idyl it is today:

But then he went bust and moved ("was exiled", cause it sounds grander) to St. Lucia and eventually started real estate developing there.

In which you can see what a vile out-of-date aristocrat he was especially for the theatrical relationship his deluded grandee vanity concocted with poor people and his own servants.

If he had a redeeming generosity in his will to the "common folk" at least its a nice ending.  The widow was born an aristocrat herself and will do fine.
