Louisville Jury Finds Gay Couple Guilty, But Fines Them One Cent

We discussed this case here, when it happened.  Some will remember Reverend Bojangles.  The couple, one who is a reverend, went to the clerks office and refused to leave until they were granted a marriage license.  Obviously, they knew they would not be granted one.  They were arrested for trespassing. 

The jury verdict has come down.  It is apparent the jury sympathized with their cause.  They asked if they could give no fine, but were instructed if found guilty, they must impose a fine.  The fine was one cent.  This is some good Thanksgiving news, that a Louisville jury would see this as a civil rights protest.  Of course, I'm sure in other parts of Kentucky they may have faced jail time.
