Routine ID HIV Visit Question
« on: November 20, 2017, 07:31:28 pm »
Ok so I've been Poz since 93. In the beginning, we went to the ID doc for a visit every 3 months. Since I'm ex military, we'd go every six months to the Henry Jackson Foundation and every six months to the normal military doc for a total of every three mos. Each time every three months they take gallons of blood, you'd enter into a myriad of research protocols. Ok so once we got stable we just go every 6 months to the foundation.  During one visit they wanted to have me participate in a study and as a part of the study they'd check my bum for something. So I assured them nothing got in my bum since before I came poz and besides the bum checker looked like he'd enjoy it too much so I declined the bum checking research protocol. I also found it weird for someone who was sober rubbing something on my bum hole. Might not feel good enough... too clinical. Ok fast forward, on my recent visit, the doc was telling me how there are all these crazy STDs for which treatment is getting harder to treat. He mentioned clamidya, gonoreah and syphilis that can get in your male or female wee wee, your bum, and in your mouth. He cited the case of a 70 year old man who had no sex in 30 years who was poz who was found with clamidya in his mouth. They sent him away with meds. The doc cited the difference between canker sores in mouth and sores in ur mouth from STD in that canker sores hurt, mouth STDS don't hurt, which is why they are passed on so easily. So getting scared here, and knowing nothing has been in my bum, mouth or my wee wee wasn't in a dark place since 93 I asked Mr doctor if I was tested for those dam new wave STDS. He said yeah I was but all I gave was blood and urine. Don't they test u by a swab of the wee wee, the bum and the mouth. It gives me pleasure to know I'm STD free except for the HIV but dam there's alot of nasty crap out there... someone sorta enlighten me bc I'm a virgin since 93...

4 min video of getting tested, in Ireland's STI clinc and what STI testing entails.
Skip the intro and the female testing questions to 2:13 when they explain testing for men.

Hope that helps.

The way STI's transmit has not changed, what has changed is the fact that some of strains of them are resistant to treatment now and yes that is a scary thought. People can also have STI's and no symptoms for a very, very long time.
