Symptoms and test
« on: November 17, 2011, 02:00:34 pm »
Hello i would really appriciate if someone could give me some advise.                                                                                         I am going thrue big anxiety for over two months now. I stupidly had unprotected sex with a guy that i barely new (im a female) this guy is from turkey and is around 36 years old.                                                                                                       We starded of usining condom and when he ejaculated (inside the condom) he took it off and after like 15 minits we had sex again (without condom) for like 10 minits, but he didnt ejaculeted that time. Straight after that i realised what stupid mistake i have done and started worrying about hiv. I asked the guy if he was clean ( off STDS ) and he said that if he would have something he wouldnt be so mascular ( he goes gym) which did not asure me at all. After nine days i saw blood in my urine i was shocked and conviced my self i had hiv. The same day i went to my local gum
Clinic and been told i had an UTI. But is hard for me to believe it because i never had blood in my urine and only happened 9days after unprotected sex with this guy. In two weeks i lost 2.5kgs. I took a test (insti finger prick) after 10 days which was neg but was told to come back at one month as its too early to test. After 25 days i had vidas duo test done which came back neg also. One month post expousure post i started having heartburn for about ten days and i had really dry skin on my legs and arms i also notice bruises on my legs. After 6 weeks and three days i developed runny nose, joint pain in my hips, lover back pain, pain in my shoulders sore throte and a bit of temperature when i went to sleep and woke up i notice i was swetting a lot which was unusual for me to swett with a bitt little bit of temperature. The next day i was feeling better but my sore throte was still there and got even worse after  few days. I still have sore throte now which is ove three weeks now. I took the vidas duo test again at two months 56 days. Thanx a lot for taking your time to read my long story and looking foward to hearing from you

The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the very smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure. With your negative at 56 days it is very, very likely you will continue to test negative at 3 months.

You do need to learn from this experience. You can have vaginal or anal intercourse with anyone you want to. But you need to do it the safer way which means always without exception the guy has to be wearing a condom.

There is nothing in any way HIV specific about your symptoms. If they persist you should discuss them with your doctor.

Good luck with your test result which as I said is likely to be negative.

Thanx a lot for your response . Got two more questions if you dont mind. Do you know anyone who tested negative at 56 days and went on to test positive at three months? I went to test 11 days before my symptoms started if they were related to hiv would my test be positive? Thanx

Symptoms or lack there of will never tell you your status. The only way to know your status is by testing.

Thanx a lot Andy. Im still worried though because when i had the test done the doctor took blood from my finger he didnt fill the pippet in with blood completely only like half way thrue and said that amount should be fine. I am also concerned about the result it showed a ring and inside the ring there was a dot . When i was looking on the internet the test only had a dot and no ring around it. Do you think i should take another test? Thanx

Further testing is unnecessary. Don't allow your doubts and fears to overwhelm you. You are HIV negative. Period. Get on with your life.
