My New "Toy" --- Picked Up My CPAP today
« on: May 31, 2011, 08:25:48 pm »
So, I finally was able to pick up my CPAP machine today - it is for my sleep apnea.  Tonight will be the first night using it - and I can't wait.  Although, the mask makes me look a bit frightening --- "Luke, I am your father...." comes to mind.

My insurance is picking up all the costs.  They got me the cadillac model - self-adjusting, with heated humidifer, computerized readings, etc.

I will update as to how it works in terms of me getting a more restful night of sleep -

Here is a pic of my baby: - minus the pic of the mask (afterall, I do want to at least stand some chance of getting laid again in the future).    ;)

That is a fancy one. Numerous people have told me they felt worlds better after using a CPAP machine. I hear it take a bit of getting used to but after that it really helps. Sweet dreams!

Looks like they have come a long way with those things.  Is that battery operated or do you have to plug it in? Put a surge protector on it when you get a chance in case one of those south Florida thunderstorms comes up during the night.

Unfortunately, unlike most of my other "toys" it isn't battery operated - already have the surge protector (thanks for the tip) - living in South Florida, a surge protector is a must.  Of course, if we lose electric from a hurricane, I will have to be without it, but, hopefully, that won't happen to often.

Oh, and I decided to give in - here is a pic of the mask --- maybe I will get bold enough to post a pic of me with it on  ::)    Any oral sex will have to occur before - as this is one strap on that isn't conducive to sex.

BTW - a hose (not the kind that I like) goes into the tube at the bottom --- although, if I find someone who isn't to thick I suppose we could see if it could fit --- things that make me go hmmmmmm.....

ROFLMAO --- I should have kept the mask on - now I have to clean juice off my keyboard - dayummm it.

I'm sure if you didn't save it, Ms. P. would have added it to her file cabinet --- I don't know whether I should be more embarassed of it surfacing it at the wrong time or the one my mother took of me in the tub when a was a "wee" one --- and I do mean a "wee" one.

I could always date serial killers or anyone who has a hannibal lector fetish or enjoys hose like vacuum devices....

BTW,anyone heard from Drewn lately?    ;D

Hope your cpap helps you as much as mine has helped me; I hit the 2 year mark with mine in May (of course, my machine, a 2009 model, is already completely obsolete -- LOL)   The key is getting the right mask; one that will make and keep a good seal, and not leave horrible marks on your face the next day.   I have gone through about 8 different masks (can't use the nasal prong type, I move around in my sleep too much and they won't stay in) .   Finally, after 2 years, I have obtained the RIGHT MASK!  Woo hoo.

Good luck   :-*

Wow --- after looking at him - I just discovered that the cpap can be used as a respirator also -
And here is the face pic (self-portrait) --- first one that makes a hannibal lector joke gets slapped  ;D

Jesus Christ how do you sleep with that thing?
It looks like . . . .well I don't know what it looks like.  I sleep on my side or on my belly so there's no way I could wear one of those freakish things.  Freakish?  Yes freakish.

RAB
(Who's afraid-------very afraid)

P.S. You bringing that thing to Seattle?  If so I want to be on a different floor.   ;)

Phil, you can bring your mask to Montreal and you will be a hit with the fetish community.

My 3 year old just saw this pic while I was looking at it.

Gia: who is that daddy?
Me: I don't know mama, who do you think it is?
Gia: That's a man piggy!
Me: ?

I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

LMAO - that is too funny -
And Joe - I might have to take you up on the Montreal visit - especially, if he mask will increase my chances of scoring (I almost typed snoring)
And RAB - I plan on following you around the hotel and downtown Seattle - all the while wearing my mask (it will be like an episode of Criminal Minds)
BTW - I was able to sleep with it on until around 4:30 am then I had to take it off.  Tonight is round two.

They actually make one that allows people who sleep on their stomach to use -- and a special pillow for people that are stomach sleepers and need "the mask."

It definitely isn't going to win me any awards - but, if it brings me a good night sleep and keeps me from dying in my sleep - from stopping breathing - then it is worth it --- at least for now --- now, when I get horny that might be another story. ;D

It will take some getting use to no doubt.

So, I finally was able to pick up my CPAP machine today - it is for my sleep apnea.  Tonight will be the first night using it - and I can't wait.  Although, the mask makes me look a bit frightening --- "Luke, I am your father...." comes to mind.

Stupid question... but how did you know you had sleep apnea ?

Hated CPAP, resigned to the fact I will die in my sleep someday like my grandfather.  In the meantime I'll enjoy the ride.
