Why is my hiv infection progressing so fast?
« on: May 16, 2018, 02:03:03 pm »
Hi all! I am a gay guy, 24 years old. My story goes like this.

On 11.02.2018. a guy preformed oral sex on me and after gave me anilingus( first time ever). After almost a week later on 16.02.2018. got muscle weeknes in my legs, day after weeknes plus fever 38,5 celsius, this lasted for a whole week, small ulcers on the inside of my lips and under my foreskin were apearing and disapearing till 24.02.when all stoped I got better. (I think this was the time when I seroconverted). Then I waited for 5 weeks and on 19.03. got tested for HIV (CLIA test) and Syphilis the results were negative (they told me everythink is okey).

One week before testing on 12.03. I had protected anal sex (was top) with a guy, however the guy scrached my fore skin with his teeth while giving me a bj.
Then on 01.04.2018. noticed an enlarged lymph node in my neck on the left side under the chick bone and started having night sweats, lost some weight (just a couple 3-4kg, btw my normal weight was 73-74kg), and had gut problems (increased apetite - was hungry all the time). Thought this was mono (ore maybe seroconversion), lasted for a month and a couple of days. On the end of April. the night sweats slowly stopped and the lymph node got real small. Meanwhile noticed that I have hairy leukoplakia and maybe candida (on the back of my tongue - not sure). On 05.05.2018. got tested for Hep C, syphilis and streptococus all came back negative, did a blood work where the white blood cells were a bit low 4.2 where the refferal range were 4.3 to 11x10^6 (everything else was okey, thout this was normal cuse of the mono) And yesterday on 15.05.2018 noticed that my gums are recieding (real fast I think), still got hairy leukoplakia.

So now I think that I definetly got hiv, not sure when did I got infected on 11.02 ore 12.03. Questions.
Can this still be a seroconversional stage where I am at the moment? Ore acute stage? Ore my hiv progressed to Aids in just a month ore two? If yes how and why? How is this possible, progression so fast? Ore maybe I got something else? What should I do about recieding gums?

Hi

Really simple you did not acquire hiv from the activities mentioned here. As for symptoms its not hiv from the activities so If you are sick see your doctor and treat whatever is making you feel ill. Please do not post about symptoms further . Thank you.

Anilingus and getting your penis sucked regardless of a scratch on your foreskin or cock is not a HIV concern, there hasn’t been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked") and for good reason the facts are that saliva is not HIV infectious, it also contains over a dozen elements that neutralize HIV and getting your penis sucked lacks the exposure needed for transmission.

The intercourse was protected by a condom and as long as the condoms did not fail you had no risk, HIV can not transmit through an intact condom and they shred during intercourse when they fail leaving no doubt.

My advice if this was your only concern and only sexual incidents ever than you had no sexual HIV risk so move on with your life, and just test whenever next due for STI's and make sure to test at least yearly for hiv outand of routine

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thx, for the answer. :)

Have one more question. If i have fingered my partner in the anus, and then used vaselin(lube) on the same fingers to lube my penis, how risky is this action?

OP I fully agree with CaveyUK - You had no HIV risk, move on with your life.

See HIV does not remain infectious like this outside the human body, once hiv finds itself exposed outside the body, the environment outside the body damages the receptors leaving the virus and render it unable to infect.

someone should suggest this guy use condoms and NO vaseline with latex rubbers. like ugh. who uses vaseline anymore? :)

We got the above comment from a member on your post. I feel its fair to share the comment.

Indeed, fingering regardless is not a HIV risk nobody has ever been infected this way and HIV is fragile once exposed outside the human body, however the point is Vaseline is not a healthy lubricate choice to start with and and if you do ever engage in intercourse you need to use a condom safe lubricate instead, such as a water based condom safe lube. Petroleum jelly, or baby oil & Vaseline are examples of lube that may damage latex increasing the odds of the condom failing.

Now no need to panic as when condoms fail during intercourse they shred leaving no doubt and so we are clear when we say condoms we are speaking of Latex or polyurethane condoms, as HIV simply can not transmit through the intact barrier.

Correct usage includes, making sure that whatever the type of condom being used, you only use approved condoms. In other words check for certification mark (FDA, CE, ISO or Kitemark etc.). This means it complies with safety standards. Check the expiry date and make sure the condom is still in date.

When using condoms use lubricant, condom safe water-based lubricants this makes condoms more comfortable and also reduces the risk of breakage. – but avoid oil-based lubricants as they can weaken or break condoms.

As for putting condom on correctly, if incorrectly done it increases the risk of breakage.  Place one on top of the erect penis and pinch the teat at the end of the condom before you start to roll it down the penis. By doing this you’ll squeeze out any air bubbles and ensure there is room for the semen (cum).Roll the condom down to the base of the penis.

If it's on correctly it will roll downwards easily. If you've started putting it on the wrong way or you’re not sure then take it off and try again. Even if you have not  t ejaculated (cum) there can still be semen (pre-cum), so it’s important to try again with a new condom. (This due to other STI's and if with a cis-woman pregnancy risks)

Finally if you are changing the sex act, than change the condom.
