I went to the january wine sales and among my purchases were two cases of wine from argentina i didnt know much about.  When I researched online, both wineries are in fact organic. And no indication on the product, here in switzerland. Isnt that interesting.
Organic wine comes at a premium and yet i bet if you do some research there is more around.  I like red wine but prefer organics if possible.  hope to see more and more in the future.

I'm going to open my bottle of Font-Sane Gigondas tonight and unpack my heirloom art deco wine glasses that I inherited from my grandmother but which were in storage until I retrieved them over Christmas.

I adore red wine and also enjoy Cahors, but for some reason it's a bit hard to find here.  Alcohol in Pennsylvania is solely monopolized by the statist Liquor Control Board and they operate all the stores, and to even have the slight chance of finding lesser known wines like Gigondas or Cahors, I must go to a place like the aptly named "Wine & Spirits Store #5155" in Society Hill.  It's quite annoying.

Hmm shocking state of affairs in Philly, maybe you can sue the state and open a "medical red wine" shop with perscription only service.

Yeah, that's why Philadelphia is a major beer and hard liquor city -- we even have three breweries right in the city limits, and then Yuengling which is the oldest brewed beer in the US is made about four counties west of here.  The current craze are these outrageously expensive whiskey bars.

Guess we are moving off topic. I love whiskey and champagne and it KILLS me on my modest income to pay the markup for these in bars and restaurants.  A bottle of Mums or some unknown single malt for 400 bucks when its 40 bucks in the market! Geez

Oh, I love champagne as well.  A nice dinner always begins with a glass of that, or maybe some sherry.

I'm also huge on port and madeira after a meal.

I can't drink wine because it can make side effects of Epzicom more severe (like a heart attack  ??? ::) ).

This has been a very well known fact since the late 1970 s / early 1980 s  when doctors discovered that the french who drink lots of red wine but eat a very artery clogging diet with lots of butter and cream sauces were having a very much smaller heart attack rate than the americans.

wish a could try the wine thing -- unfortunately even a sip of it give me a horrible headache almost immediately --- i've heard that some are unable to tolerate the sulfites in it.  This may be my problem -- so I guess i will have to seek out non-wine alternatives [does Corona have the same beneficial
effects :-)  ]

Another possibility--and one that seems increasingly likely--is that the butter and cream aren't really artery-clogging after all.

Pathologists say wine drinkers have healthy arteries but their myocardial tissue is awful (alcohol causes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic_cardiomyopathy).

The only healthy thing from wine is Resveratrol, you can get it by eating peanuts or taking it as a supplement.

wow, I didn't know about the peanuts.  I will get some peanut brittle tomorrow!

concord grape juice is another good source of this antioxidant.

I have heard that the resveratrol in peanuts is in the red skins, so people eating peanuts for that purpose should make sure the skins are on.  But there are so many good things in peanuts!

Elf, the article to which you linked said that cardiomyopathy is caused by "chronic long-term abuse of alcohol."  It did not define that but I wonder whether the ordinary moderate wine drinker qualifies?

There is a difference between chronic long-term abuse of alcohol that indeed may leads to heart failure and drinking a bit of red wine (contains the polyphenols).
You may want to read about the french paradox (south healthier than north due to the consumption of red wine).

But good to remind the danger of alcohol in general.
