Title: Condom break with high risk individual - Need some help and advice
Post by: superlemon on May 05, 2017, 09:47:42 am
So on tuesday I met up with a guy from grindr. He openly asked for bareback sex when we were talking and I refused. Usually I avoid anyone who wants to have unprotected sex but this time was different.

We start having sex he was so tight that it was really difficult to even get inside. I am not very experienced and made the mistake of buying thin condoms. The whole time I was inside him it felt as if the condoms were going to split so I kept changing them

Every minute or so I would pull out and inspect the condom to make sure it was still intact. Then eventually to my horror I pulled out and the condom was torn. I cannot remember how much my head was exposed but there was definitely a big tear. I put another one on and continued sex for a bit but then I decided to stop because it was just too tight to be enjoyable so pulled out took condom off and ejaculated on his back/ass

Afterwards he told me he was positive but with an undetectable load. This made me completely panic and threaten the guy because of what had transpired, but I now realize this was totally out of order and wrong of me.

He showed me some medication and assured me he was undetectable and offered to come with to the hospital in the morning but I just wanted to get out of there. I don't know how much I can trust this person they are definitely high risk and were also injecting meth while I was there.

I went the next day to my local hospital for a on the spot test which was negative. The nurse said it was low risk and there was no need for PEP but said I could have it if I wanted. I decided to take it anyway as I weighed up in my mind that 28 days of PEP is better than a life time of HIV

I would also like to note that the day after this I noticed that my urethra seemed very red I don't know if this is because of how tight he was but I am feeling a slight burn when I urinate now (3 days later) there was no blood but it just seemed sore and irritated

I have been taking PEP as prescribed. I have a 5 day cycle, I was thinking of stopping PEP because I have read countless posts from Ann and Andy that PEP is overkill for me and I am a person that is against taking any medication  usually. Could anyone explain to me the dangers of PEP for 28 days? Is it likely to do any long term damage or is it fairly safe? So far the side effects are minimal except from some nausea and headaches on the first day

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that from this incident I am unlikely to come out positive with or without PEP but I decided to take PEP just to be absolutely certain and stop me from worrying for 6 -12 weeks.

Hi, Seeking PEP is a personal decision. Since you have already started just complete the full 28 days, it will have no lasting damage and is safe.

A conclusive result is at 13 weeks upon completion of PEP and from what you have posted you can expect a negative result when you test.
