Very thought provoking. 'Medicine Man' really got me. I could relate as everytime I go to the doctor, they are sticking me for blood. I currently take a fistfull of supplements and today, I was approved for the Texas HIV  Medical Assistance Program and will be adding more pills to swallow. My sister also has mega bottles she carries in a plastic grocery bag.
My second lover was an artist and he also used many a strange thing to create art.

I hate to be jaded, but people have been making AIDS art like this since I was in art school 20 years ago.  I didn't find any of this telling me anything new.

Just trying to use my three degrees in art.  They don't get much use lately at all.

Slight exaggeration.  BFA in Painting & Printmaking, and minors in sculpture and art history :)  Most of the printmaking was in lithography.

I like science and art, sometimes they combine. Important social issues tend to kill art for me and most "found" art is rubbish. I was a gardener for years with a Hort. degree, but took many art and drafting classes.  I like figure drawing, but no one buys nudes, so I started print making and drawing orchids. No one was buying them either unless I lowered my price to a paltry sum.  Now a guy who sells to designers wants me to paint big botanicals in a loose style with certain colors so someone can match their art to their new trendy couch.

I've decided that prostituting myself for art can be a good thing if there's money involved.  I hope this doesn't upset my Social Security check.

If you have ever lived with an artist before, you gotta know that they go through 'periods of creativity'...said periods can hit at any time and any place. For example...I am doing laundry and pulling out the dryer lint trap and cleaning it...AHA...and he grabs the lint and takes off for the garage studio...later he places a picture in front of me of an abstract nature and he has taken the lint, which , depending what colors you were washing gave different colors of lint, and he had taken different colors and made different shapes and titled them and put them behind glass and...the next gallery showing we are selling my dryer lint as art..and people are buying it..*literally, they are buying that it is art and paying cash to possess said art*....

I've been told that if on SSDI/SSI you can make up to $200.00 and not affect your check. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. It's not  that I don't trust my source...

Lint? Wow!
It is true, people will buy anything.

They have a huge antique flea market here called Brimfield.  One lady had little pieces of tin maybe 4 by 4, with glass crystals hanging off it, essentially it was an ornament and they were selling for over 40 bucks???

What was up with the candle?  I liked the survivor made out of condoms.

I'm quite sure that the amount is higher than that (I think it's $400 actually).  But when it comes to matters as this, I always tell people to check with the proper government agency.  I wouldn't take anyone else's word for it.

Not too sure about the candle. The base appears to have pubic hair on it...but my eyesight is not what it used to be... ::)
