Air Conditioners
« on: October 21, 2006, 08:52:19 pm »
Well I need 2 new AC's and I figured now is a good time to buy since I can probably get a good  deal and I want everything setup so next summer I dont have to worry about this stuff.

Can anyone recommend a good brand/model?  For my bedroom figure its between 200-250 square feet.
For the living room/dining area, between 400-450 square feet.

Thanks.

Bestbuy has Whirlpool....Home Depot has Fedders.

Which AC's are better? Whirlpool or Fedders?  Or is it the same cr@p?

Jeff,

Are these units also going to supply heat in the winter? Or are they just for AC /

Click below, it will help you determine the right size BTU, that you will need for those spaces :

Jeff,

I am not sure what to suggest to you. I haven't dealt with wall unit AC units in some time. I think a lot of these units now, are made overseas.

Also check if there is a noise rating for the units , that you may purchase. You don't want something loud, or a compressor sounding like a coil spring dropping, everytime it goes on. I think you can probably get good deals at any of the home stores. I always liked Rheem, but I don't know if they make wall unit AC units any more. And the stores will most likely try to sell you extended warranty also...

Jeff, whatever "ass cooler" your looking for, do your research..  Watch out for ones that have a brain.  The brains fry with power spikes, humidity, looking at them wrong, etc..

Youve got time to do your googles...
