Well, for starters I'm not a fan of the hair.   :)

She has lovely blond hair, I don't know why she dyes her roots black.

I'm glad she hasn't lost her lip syncing talents.

I do have to say, though....is this really  what passes for "portly" and "rotund"?

Really?

No wonder 7th grade girls across the land continue to hurl their lunches.

And I read through the coverage, Iggy.

Those bitter queens were falling all over themselves to try to rip her apart...Post haste.

If I was her, I'd flip the whole world the finger and ride off with the money.  Who needs 'em anyway with her bank roll?

You may be right.  After all, I have just devoted more time to her in this thread than I have in the last- well, whole of her career.

So probably not, though I still question the whole weight thing.  I mean, good grief....that's  "porky"?

Her dance routine was pretty lame.  In fact, there were times when she looked like she didn't even have her balance.

I still say she should take the cash and bolt.

I personally think she deserves some thumbs up for having tried. It is hard stand up once you fall... perhaps she has learnt something during this time... (and i am not talking about wearing underwear).

Juan Carlos (who appreciates when a fallen tries to stand up... have been there and done that.... not meaning the dancing thing).

The fat cow should stand up and try parenting before her kids get taken away. She learned that America finally realized she was just another no talent drunken slut. She can't fall fast enough.

Minus the part about the kids - I think my father said the same thing about me on his deathbed.

I saw her live at Splash a few years ago when she was doing a night of drive-by haunts of the local gay establishments here in NYC and she rocked the house.

Poor girl has really fallen.

Looks like she is trying to jazzercise while drunk.

It was pretty f-ing funny to watch, though...

Umm..Juan Carlos...she was falling over herself, couldn't even lip sync for crying out loud...I live in in North Carolina and the bumkik drag queens have better tempo and than she did!

And all she learned is that people will applaud her no matter how fat and untalented she is...

 :o

I was just now reading an article in todays paper about her performance last night. After watching the clip, I have to agree with the article in the paper today.

"Somewhere, Kevin Federline is laughing.  An out of shape, out of touch Britney Spears delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards---But all for the wrong reasons."

"Kicking off with "Gimme More", spears looked bleary, and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid expoits on the street s of Los Angeles."

"She walked throught the dance moves, with little enthusiasm. She appeared to have forgotten the art of lip- Synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable, given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape."

"Even the celebrity - studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 cent, looked at Spears with a confused look ;  And Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless !"

"Some comeback.  Breathlessly hyped by MTV as the evenings most anticipated performance, it became the most shockinly bad of the night.  Jive records might want to push back that Nov. 13th , release date"

Poor girl--------Ray

oh come on now...she's most assuredly not svelte or fit enough for that outfit (particularly without a beach or swimming pool in sight)...but I wouldn't exactly call that fat.

Title: Re: Britney Spears at the VMA
Post by: JeffInNYC on September 10, 2007, 09:43:37 pm
she isnt fat but she did look pudgy - the hair was wrong and the outfit didnt do her any favors either.  Its like she was set up.

Her performance sucked because she didnt care...and you know what?  I never cared for her either. She may be on her way to becoming a "has been", but in my book she falls into the category of "those who never were".

I hope she has a good financial advisor...her mega money making days are kaput.

I can tell you how it feels to be fallen... i think we all have been there at least once. It is something that happens to any other human being... and yes it is "that simple".

Also, perhaps you have some different image from her as you all live "closer" to her, here from distance we just liked her songs and felt sorry for her troubles, just like what we do for anyone else.

Maybe this is unpopular - but how dare we judge someone for their bad decisions on this board?

She is a celeb so she puts herself out there for ridicule but think about it.  The girl has been dragged around by those that "love" her since she was a child.  Her parents entered her in ever fucking contest on Earth.  They sexualized a child and the world ate it up.

Now, she has the mental capacity of a child and she is expected to take care of children.  She is a meal ticket plain and simple and now the people that "love" her abandoned her because she is a mess.  She is a mess because it is hard to grow up in front of the world.

The performance sucked because I don't think she even wants to do this shit anymore.  Her songs have always been manufactured as was her whole existence.  I mean, does she even exist?  Is there a person in that head.

I stand by the fact that I believe from what I have seen that the girl is bipolar and off her meds.  If anyone knows anything about the disease they know the mania and the depression.

ray - I echo your sentiment...poor girl.

Sorry if I offend anyone with this but I just wish I could give her a hug.  Not as Britney Spears the celeb but as Britney Spears the sad sad woman.

Pete -

You didn't offend me.  And I think Thunter was saying the same thing earlier.  You both make valid and honest points.

But...The fact of the matter though is we are laughing at BRITNEY SPEARS in a LAS VEGAS performance...and if you can't have fun at her expense in that situation then all we have left are the gays, Jews and women politicians...and I hear they are starting to get organized.

If Miss South Carolina could take the heat then the Britster should be able to step up to the plate.

Seriously, though, as a performer she is going to be held to a high scrutiny and her appearance and performance are going to be judged.  She honestly looked like she didnt give a fig during her performance.

I guess you guys caught me in a poignant moment.  I am the first to point and laugh at a trainwreck, but I pondered on this today.  I wish I had those braincells back.

Dachshund - I am not trying to start any kinda flamewar but you and I have no idea what is going on in Brit Brit's little cracked head.   Money does not make people happy, in fact, I think it makes shit worse.

I feel for everyone who is in pain and doesn't have people to help them.  I feel she is used by her "loved" ones and that must be a difficult feeling.

Maybe she is Poz, maybe she has cancer, maybe she i a fucking crackhead, - who knows, but does her being famous negate the fact that she is SCREAMING for help?

Considering Britney just had 2 kids, I'd say she is in pretty good shape.  I just don't understand the raunchy outfit. Her performance wasn't her best, but I can understand why she wasn't into it..... I wouldn't be into performing either if there is a possibility of loosing my kids. Her biggest mistake was agreeing to perform.  Maybe she just wanted the money, who knows.

She's obviously had her problems.  The alien head look was never the way forward.

For her own good, she should probably disappear and live the quiet life, living off the money she's earned.  Sadly there are many who have and will continue to make money from her.  It seems they don't give a fig if she's well or can perform.

They'll continue to flog the product, inspite of diminishing returns and whatever damage it causes her.

This thread is appalling. With the exception of Doxie and the Queen, all of you National Enquirer whores should be ashamed of yourselves.

The only contributions of any merit to this disgraceful discourse have been Queenie and Hal's exhortations that people read the post in Poz Women by Tendai in which she describes life in Zimbabwe.

A thread she posted at considerable risk to herself. She is living in a decaying authoritarian state where the most basic necessities of life are simply not available and a ruthless government beats and kills all who dare to dissent.

But do any of you vacuous show ponies give a shit? No, you'd rather wring your limp wristed hands about some meth addled slut whose most notable contribution to public life was to flash her twat in the front seat of Paris Hilton's car.

I didn't watch the VMAs but after the media hullabaloo and the comments on this forum I watched the clip at the top of this thread. As I suspected... big flippin' deal. It's not a train wreck, she's not fat, it's not scandalous. It's just a boring performance by someone whose only talent was working a school girl uniform. Why anyone would feel sorry for someone who has millions of dollars and who chose to do that performance is beyond me. There are so many people out there who actually have talent that it frustrates me there is so much attention given to this crap. There are people who can play instruments, write music, sing or at least be able to read music.

Of course the reality is many people don't find musical talent interesting. They want scandal. They want tabloid passion plays-- as Don Henley said kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down. They want to feel superior for a few minutes by thinking "I would never do that", "At least I'm not that fat", "I can sing better than her".

I confess I too love a good train wreck. The hypocrisy and hysteria over Larry Craig's "Pottygate" is very entertaining. Britany Spears at the VMAs is just boring.

I refuse to be chastised by someone who routinely posts threads about men eating bull penises and people who fuck donkeys.

And far from "not giving a shit", I simply hadn't read it- as it appears in the Poz Women's forum that I am not allowed to post in.  Out of respect for their privacy, I generally leave that forum completely alone.

While not a huge fan of hers, I give her snaps for getting out and do it considering the negative publicity she has faced recently.
I agree 100% with PeteNYNJ, who the hell are we to judge anyone considering what we are all going through and the way this disease leaves our bodies.
I am pretty lucky at this time, AIDS hasnt taken away my looks or body, but when it does eventually, I hope others wont be there to judge me as so many of you here are doing to her.
None of us know exactly what she has to face on a daily basis with her life. Just the same as she doesnt have any idea what we face daily.
IMO, she looked great and although a bit rusty on her dancing, she at least gave it a go.
So, can we please stop judging someone who we dont know...or for that matter.....stop judging EVERYONE in general?
By throwing out such ugly opinions not only at her, but at anyone, says so much about you and your ugliness and not her or those others you feel you have the right to judge. Fucking grow up!!!
Hate hate hate people who judge anyone..and hate to say it, but hate the HIV/AIDS community who show any kind of negativity towards ANYONE!!

I disagree. When someone goes out on stage and performs they implicitly invite critique. They have the opportunity for people to praise the performance or criticize it. Just because I'm HIV+ doesn't mean I can't say Britney Spear's performance was boring or that I think the attention she receives is disproportionate to her level of talent. Attacking her personal life is a different matter.

Actually, there really was such a story on the news just a couple of weeks ago.  I wish I could remember which celeb it was and what happened.  I just remember that the entire focus of the story was on the celebrity even though some average joes had been injured.  I tend to let most all celeb "news" go in one ear and out the other, so I cannot remember.  I just remember being struck by the presentation of the story.

That wasnt my original point.  My point was judging Britney Spears the person.

The performance sucked but lot of the critiques I have read attack her personally, not her "muscial" talent.

She is fat
She is a horrible person
She is crazy
She should be cut up and fed to dogs (ok - I made that one up).

Again, whatever, why am I sticking up for this chick who could give a shit about me?

Criticize her performance all you want, but leave it at that! In reading most of the posts here, the attacks are against her as a person....her body, her behavior and her background.
Attacking her musical performances/ability is a different matter.

Britney is a musical celebrity.  As such, her singing and dancing and general talent are up for scrutiny to be praised as well as criticized.  Coupled with the fact that she has been marketed, at least equally, for both her sexiness and her talent, then that criticism also extends to her appearance and weight.   Her performance sucked and she looked far from her best.  Sorry, theres no way around this one.

How is this thread any better or worse than the one about Diana?  While Diana didnt mean much to me one way or the other, at least with that woman, there's the perception (or maybe misperception) of doing a lot of good.  She left her 2 boys motherless which to me is a real tragedy.

Personally speaking as a person, who grew up on the telly, and in the "business" you stop being viewed a person the minute you make money for producers, directors, agents, lawyers, etc. You become a commodity. Brittany is just that...she is a product of her own making. And this consumer is not at all pleased with the product, and will critique and critize as I see fit. Goodness, Consumer Reports does it and we applaud them for it...

I personally have given Brittany way too much time already and I will now exit this foray with no further input..

Have fun and good night!

I think all of the criticism of her weight just goes to show that so many in Hollywood are still a bunch of body Na-

never mind.

Well say what you must but the girl needs a rest....She's definitely been OVER EXPOSED!
Putting her down at this point is just cruel.  Given her latest antics....it might be best if she
disappeared for a while and spent some time with her kids.  If you wanna feel sorry for anybody...
its those boys I feel for.........

As for the fan...well I suspect he's got just what he wanted.
Over a million hits....and still going strong.
I guess he took some of the heat off Britney....and I think that's part of it too.
I'd hate to have him stalking me
YIKES!
