labs and tans in June go together
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:46:35 am »
I like having my blood work done in the last of June because obviously hanging out by the pool and getting a killer tan is well worth it. ;) oh, and I've decided that elevated Vit D levels make me even more horny than usual.

last year having labs done on June 25th returned my highest cd4s up to that point - an incredible 318.
this year having labs done on June 26th returned my highest cd4 count ever in 19 years of AIDS - a whopping 335! ;D

I'm just glad I'm not having labs done today though. LOL I was stung by several yellow jackets yesterday :o (and they still itch and burn today), popped a bunch of benadryl, and slurped down a bunch of Coronas, so I doubt even my tan would be able to overcome all that. of course, I'll probably be back down around 240-250 when I get lab work done in the late Fall - when my tan is fading; but it's awfully nice right now to have such a good number after so many years.

skin cancer is no fun
yes. My Nana was all on the warpath about that too. Living la vida AIDS though, I've never worried about lung cancer, melenoma, etc as I always figured I wouldn't live long enough for one of "those" things to do me in. damned retrovirals might make me sorry before everything is all said and done. LOL  :D

some bath salts
ROFLMAO
heck it only takes two Coronas to get me buzzed anyway, so I was doing just fine with the mix as it was. LOL

I hope that number will be rising up next months and years
lordy! wouldn't that be a hoot?!? :D it's all ok if they drop back down to a winter-normal of 245 though. this piddley little bit over 200 has kept me out of the hospital for 14 yrs and has me healthier than I've been in 25-30 yrs, so I don't need them to keep climbing - I just don't need them sinking below 200 again;)

My mother always send that tanning after the age of 30 or 35 caused a man's skin to look like and old shoe.

one word - moisturizers ;)

oh and thank you all for the well wishes. :-*

At times I still don't understand why, after so many years of being so sick, after so many yrs on the same regimen (basically), after the stressful times of losing my last partner and the life changes that came with that, why then my numbers would become stable and eventually begin to improve (although my cd4/cd8% is still low around 14) and why I should feel so much better.

These last four years have been nothing at all like the previous 15 and I just don't understand. A part of me keeps expecting age and AIDS to catch back up and whap me upside the head at some point; but until then I'm trying to stay happy, stay busy at the ASO, and stay tanned.  ;)

You are such a Southern boy, I'm sure Summer gets all your juices flowing and you feel great, and thats reflected in your CD4.  Maybe you should got further south, when you can manage.  Key West, or an Island.  Sun heat and water, that's your elixir.

for years, while my family (mainly Mom LOL) was trying to get me to leave Ohio, I threatened that if I ever loaded up everything and got on the road, I was just going to continue on down to Florida. :D However, although I spent a while around Sarasota, the vast amount of my college years spent in Florida was in the redneck capital of Pensacola; so an actual move down that far South was always kinda scary. LOL But a topical island, now that does sound nice.

Sun heat and water, that's your elixir.

That is so freaking funny and obviously hit quite home with me.  My senior year of highschool, they finally started offering French.  Me and 3 others were the only ones who signed up for the class and she was mortified.  You can't mix redneck and french.

Glad you're doing so well with everything

oh my! no tan lines? I'll have to see that when we get to Seattle. ;)

living here in the woods, I've stripped down a couple times but then I just have to spray everything with bug spray so the skitters don't bite what they shouldn't be touching. LOL So right now, I've got a lovely glow-in-the-dark white ass (and cock) thanks to my speedo tan line 8)

Course you can!  Ask any redneck in Quebec or the parishes of Louisiana.

Congratulations!

And I would rather look like an old shoe (honestly, how ugly were they to begin with) any day than something that crawled out under a log, LOL! One of the reasons I moved west was for sun, sun and more sun. The only section of me that is pale is my mid section and I leave that for a reason! Never liked white meat unless it was on a chicken or turkey.

I get my tests at the end of this month and so I will spend the weekend prior on the beach every day!

Enjoy and again congratulations.

A big shout out to the American tax payer! ;D
yeppers. ;D I'm very glad that I paid enough taxes into the system all those years that I worked to guarantee that I've been able to get adequate health care, unlike others who haven't been as fortunate or weren't able to work enough before they got sick. Of course at this point, I'm sacrificing a life with amenities to keep this level of health care; but then again, I thought several times through the years that AIDS was going to be the death of my anyways.

Then there's the issue that I returned to work for several years even while I was still quite sick with the AIDS (paying even more taxes), until the system slapped me back down hard. It is a shame that things are geared towards keeping people in poverty to retain adequate health care that'll keep them alive. Thank god that the sunshine that gives me my tan is free! :D

Thankfully, the health care that I paid for came through and here I am nearly 16 years after those docs were just about ready to declare me dead. And thankfully, that health care that I paid for has helped me to regain enough health that, not only do I get to still enjoy life (and the tan! LOL) but I'm able to work with my ASO  keeping others from becoming infected and assisting those that have. When I lived in Ohio, I wasn't well enough and I didn't have an ASO around where I could volunteer. I don't know if that's exactly the reason I've remained alive while my partners and friends have perished - but that's the reason I'm making of it.  ;)

For all the times that we hear people bashing the American health care system, it isn't completely flawed. Someone that has worked and paid taxes into the system long enough can and does actually receive proper health care. Now if some health care reform can just keep the insurance industry from gouging the hell outta the system, it might be able to provide for people here in the States for many years to come.

The amount you paid into the system the entire time you work might have covered you for 'bout six months. The rest of your tab is being covered by people that work now. If you have the time to float around in your pool tanning all day sounds like you ain't missing too many amenities.

Bottom line it's all excuses. My first ten years with AIDS would have made a terrific made for TV movie. Lovers dropping like flies, knocking on death's door, a botched suicide attempt, homeless, blah, blah, blah. But thanks to the magic bullet I made it back by getting off the pity pot. With no one to mooch off, I got a job waiting tables and lived above my friend's garage, took a bus to work, saved until I could get back on my feet. Now I have a car, a home and my dignity. Oh and guess what? I work AND volunteer at my ASO. Go figure. Anywho enjoy your Doughboy and I'll wait for you to rinse and repeat your tale of woe.

I guess I owe a huge shout out to the American taxpayer also for my tan.  I finally had to go on SSD and am still able to enjoy some simple things in life.  I guess I'd be set if some tanning lotion company would hire me to test their products and provide me with medical coverage, I'd finally be able to return to work.

sounds like someone is upset that they weren't sick enough to get disability. poor baby. Obviously I was much sicker than you for much longer - and I did work some of those yrs too, thank you, and ended up back in the hospital. Thanks to the magic bullet as you call it (it only took 18 meds and 15 yrs for me to find the right bullet LOL), my health has just been returning in the last few years after 15-16 yrs of living daily with teh AIDS.

So no mooching here. I worked and earned these benefits or the government wouldn't have given them to me. If you're so disgruntled with the way ssD was determined in the late 90s maybe you should start your own thread instead of being so bitchy in mine. I mean it's not that things are all that great for me when after 19 freaking yrs my highest cd4 numbers are still just barely over 300. I hope you're not suggesting that people that receive disability aren't entitled to it. Seems that would be treading on thin ice with an awful lot of other members here too.

Other people get to post their numbers (some above 1000!) without having their happy threads derailed, I don't know why you feel the need to be such a wet blanket on mine. Especially after the incidents that have transpired between us online demonstrating that we don't much care for one another. Hopefully, Ann or Tim will come along and tell you to put me on ignore LOL - especially when once again, it seems to be YOU trying to stir up the trouble with me and not vice versa.

Here's a thought, instead of waiting for others to come to your rescue why don't you just put them on ignore yourself, I'm sure the Administrators and the Mods have far more important thngs to do for the members of this forum...like I said it's just a wee thought.

because sadly Tim hasn't restored the ignore function yet. Duh! ::) So I'm stuck listening to people like you and Dach come in and interrupt a thread about my good blood results.

of course, I'm not surprised to see you pop in here for some of your patented snarkiness anyway. LOL I can see how much you're trying to keep things civil so that we can be pleasant to one another when we're both in Seattle.  ::)

Please notice that once again, I did not engage you (or Dach) first but y'all started this. How about you keeping your comments about me and my threads to yourself and go torment someone else. :D

because sadly Tim hasn't restored the ignore function yet.

I wasn't aware that we needed a button to ignore people...you can do it by simply not responding...and as for Seattle I'm not that two faced.

oh? so you weren't even planning to try to be civil in Seattle? interesting. Many people have tried to get me to think that you had enough manners to at least be pleasant. Some have even suggested that we might even, well not be friends, but at least not dislike each other so much after meeting in person. perhaps I have been right in my opinion about you all along then if you think that being civil at the AMG would be two-faced. Fair enough though. Thanks for the warning. :D

Wow, Annibec you more than the other tasteless response surprise me, and then there is the fact that not one moderator has posted "cut the shit!" They might now. Honestly your recent photo and article were amazing, but this clearly is not the same person. If you don't want to offer up a congratulations, don't, move on, no excuses. Dashshund, just go away. Who are you to say when and who should enjoy the sun disability? Bottom line, this is ugly, and yes I just added to it, but this makes it very difficult for others to post and respond!

actually they don't say that at all. LOL
they say "forewarned is forearmed" which is from the Latin "Praemonitus praemunitus".

you're welcome.  ;)

not one moderator has posted "cut the shit!"

Guess what, we moderators have lives too. We cannot babysit this website 24/7.

Mike, you repeatedly respond and then - and only then - hit the moderator report button. What a load of shit. How on earth are we supposed to moderate that? Mike, you need to remember that we have told you time and time again to not respond to people who upset you. As it says in the Welcome Thread; "We would like to remind everyone at this time to use the "Report to moderator" link rather than respond to inappropriate behaviour yourself".

You're both getting a Time Out. Mike, because it's high time your mis-use of the report button was dealt with and Jan, because you know better.

And while we're at it, Dach, you're getting a warning. Your ongoing feud with Leatherman is no less tiresome. You knew where this would go with the response you posted, and here we are.

Here I am first thing in the morning and running into this nest of snarks. Glad it's been handled but wishing it hadn't been necessary.

Wishing you all could get how ugly and pointless it is when you get into one of these turd fights. Believe me we already know who doesn't like who.
