Risk From Semen Contact on Open Wound
« on: November 22, 2023, 11:24:22 am »
Hi,

I’ve been trying to read up on this situation, for the most part use protection. If you have an open wound or say you have a needle prick or vaccine shot, but had semen on or rubbed on the skin surface (open wound). Is there a good chance of contracting HIV from semen on an open wound (skin)?

Aside from that receiving unprotected oral sounds like a low risk, based on other comments and threads. If there a need to worry about contracting HIV?

Mixed about posting l, have been reading through other posts and not overly worried about it but have a lingering concern in my mind.

... I have a twisted mind after all these years of answering questions. After reading your post three times, I now have a picture in my mind of you heading into the emergency room with an open wound, getting vaccinated, and a male nurse ejaculating over your arm.  ;D

Day-to-day cuts, scratches, and wounds on the outside of your body lack a route for you to acquire HIV.

What activities did you engage in this person's penis before they ejaculated onto your skin?

or say you have a needle prick or vaccine shot,

A needle prick or injection site that later comes into contact with some fluids also isn't a route. However, if the needle prick were a result of sharing syringes to inject drugs, that, of course, would be an HIV risk to you.

It's simply no HIV risk. Receiving a blowjob lacks the conditions required for acquiring HIV; thus, it makes sense that after 40+ years of this pandemic in terms of BJs, there hasn't been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked"), and you will not be the worlds first.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Thanks for the quick response.

Yah I felt odd writing that, no needle sharing, had vaccine day prior and just overall situation was odd where it landed and having it rubbed (spread out). Just that lingering thought after the fact. For myself no interaction other than semen skin contact.

No need to feel odd. The question or concern in itself about wounds and contact with fluids isn't odd or uncommon, we get asked all the time and it's an understandable question.

Trust me odd is when we get asked about contracting HIV from ET or contracting bovine immunodeficiency virus (BIV) from cows. It happens more often than you would like to think. I wish people would leave the cows alone and instead get a consenting human partner. As for ET, well if they did probe their ass with a glow finger or other appendage in a spaceship, I think HIV would be the least of their concerns.

Anyhow, my point is to take it easy, and please don't feel that your question was odd, it was fine.

Hi, it’s been a while since posted, were suppose to reuse existing threads right?

How soon does HIV symptoms appear after exposure? I may be over reacting and not fully sure on all symptoms, 8 days after possible exposure started having nausea and stomach issues (past 3+ weeks) which feels odd and haven’t experienced before. Is stomach issues possible symptom and is 8 days to soon or about the time Symptoms appear? Doctor doesn’t seem like having big issue regular blood markers appeared ok.

Had an encounter where had unprotected oral for a few minutes maybe less than 5 minutes, think I felt a finger penetration, but ended with ejaculation on my stomach. Is there any risk to this? I may have had a scrap or friction burn on base of penis. Thoughts on this, have mixed thoughts but timely is odd and maybe not related.

So your issues are not HIV-specific or related to HIV from the encounter posted here and the vast majority of people have no initial symptoms or at least none noticeable; I wish it weren't the case.

Plenty of risks, but our focus here is limited to HIV.  Being fingered and getting cum on your stomach isn't an HIV risk as for "unprotected oral" this is vague and could mean anything, kissing, rimming, cunnilingus, blowjob and a few other acts. (Use your imagination)

So I will presume the worst-case HIV scenario, and that is you gave a blowjob. So the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect and even if you had had gaping open holes in your head like meth mouth, there are barriers such as saliva that neutralizes HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells etc. All in all, giving a blowjob is such a minute (theoretical) HIV risk that it doesn't warrant HIV concern or testing outside of routine.

In short; it's not an HIV risk, so unless you have had other risks, move on with your life.
