oral with sex worker
« on: September 17, 2006, 05:26:03 pm »
Hello,

I have perfomed a vaginal intercourse (with condom) and gave oral sex (cunilingus) for 3-4 minutes to a sex worker in High class Austrian night club. Since then 8 days later i felt a sore throat while working out in gym that turned into a mild temperature and gone in 2 days. Caught with excudate remained for 9 days and dry cough stayed for about until today (2 weeks later). Last week though i felt a rash in my wrist area and as i scrached it became quite red. Could the rash be bcs i was taking big amounts of propolis?? The last thing is that i think i have swollen lymph nodes in last few days, near throat.

Do You think i should go tested for HIV?

Since the sex worker is also the girl i knew from before, i asked her about HIV and she claimed that she had only protected sex and that she gets HIV tested oftenly and checked on gyno exam. However she reported to me that she had a serious chest pain and caugh followed by use of antibiotics 10 days prior to our intercourse.

I know that the chance is 1:20 000 for oral sex transmission and she sounded convincing, howewer these symptoms are bugging me and i am in long-term relationship.

Please what are chances in my case to be infected with HIV??

Thank You so much

Deadly worried

The main thing in relation to this incident as far as HIV is concerned is that you had protected intercourse. Giving her oral is risky theoretically. So many factors have to come together to make it an actual risk that as I say it's theoretical rather than actual.

Your symptoms are not in anyway  HIV specific, but then neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to know about your HIV status. A test at 13 weeks after the most recent incident is the only way to know that.

Condoms provide very effective protection so as far as this incident is concerned you were coverred figuratively and literally.

In general I recommend that anyone who's sexually active should get a full STD panel regularly -- at least annually and every six months is even better.

As for your symptoms, discuss them with your doctor. I don't see any cause for concern about HIV in relation to this incident.

Keep using a condom everytime and you'll be fine as far as HIV is concerned.

Cheers,
