Antigen Test ???
« on: June 12, 2006, 09:59:37 am »
Dear all,

Hello. I have seen this site is the best to have accurate answers to HIV risk's assessement. This is my situation. I have been out 10 days from now and got drunk. I know drink and sex wouldn't go togather but I made a big mistake. I start to get alone with a sex worker. She was also drunk, I gave her a brife handjob and she put condom on me. The condom were not worn to the end of my penis. It only covers about half way. My penetration was also not deep and only 5 or six times. The whole thing was over less than a 1 min. Before I completly ejaculates, I withdraw. When I withdraw, the condom was there and when I take off it, at the tip of the condom, I see that it holds the some amout of waterry liquid, assumed my sperm.

I got panic next mrn'g. I have checked -ve on April and this is the only explosure I have since January. I got some pimps in my fingers and around my neck and i got this very sore thorat for like 7 days now, starting from the third day from my explosure. Today, I have headache too. What do you think would be my chance of being affected from this explousre?

All the best to all

Nabale,

You did not have a risk of hiv infection. You used a condom and condoms have been proven to be very effective when it comes to preventing hiv transmission.

Keep using condoms and you will avoid hiv infection.

Please read through the Welcome Thread for more information and please also read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use those condoms with confidence.

Tnx Ann....

Is the condom was up only half way, virtually almost just or small more covering the head, will it be different? Casue I am sure it protects the tip...but what if there is any microscopic holes on the way up ?

I just got worried, especially after i got this weird sore thorat for like 7 days.

Nabale,

As long as the head of your penis was covered by the condom, you were protected against hiv infection.

Skin is an excellent barrier against hiv and the skin on your penis is no different. It is the head of the penis that needs to be protected because that is where the urethra is located. The urethra (where you pee and cum out of) is vulnerable to hiv infection and so is the foreskin if you have one.

There is no such thing as microscopic holes in condoms. That is a myth put about by people who don't want anyone to use condoms or have sex outside of marriage.

You did not have a risk of hiv infection. Period.

Thnx for your prompt response Ann.. Don't judge me but I was talking about the hole on my penis skin, not about the hole of the condom and sry for misunderstanding... I am dead sure that the tip is protected, but worried about the skin of my penis. we didn't use any lubricant at all... In addition, I assumed that handjob is not a risk, from what I read from other threads....If the exposure I got from my last Negative result is only this, you think I would be -ve? I am thinking of taking test on 6 then 12 weeks again.

Tnx again.

As long as your penis head was covered there wasn't any risk in anything else that you have reported. I don't see any need for testing so whether you test at 6 weeks or 13 weeks is really irrelevant.

And yes, I expect you will test negative so testing would be strictly for your peace of mind, not because there was any real risk.

The real red flag in what you have reported is your having mixed excessive drinking with casual/impulsive sex. That's a might dangerous combination. In this instance you seem to have scooted by safely, but you need to learn from this experience and not repeat your dangerous behavior.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

I am very sry for not following the guidelines, I just didn't know how to get into the original one. Every one on the site keep tell'n me that no need for testing if the viginal reationship is protected. I just have one of that and feel very fatique today and high-body temp. I know there is no way it could be ARS or something but hope that I would be ok.

Tnx and sry for the confussion i made

Nabale,

Condoms provide excellent protection against hiv infection. I am hiv positive and my partner of seven years is hiv negative. He stays hiv negative because we use condoms. Condoms prevent hiv infection. It really is that simple.

And NO, you do not need to test over this incident.

The answer is NO, it's not ARS. You have to have a risk to get infected and you didn't have a risk.

I am sry if i am nagging you too much... But here is my deal, I have seen a doctor today and he told me that he found my temp. a bit high and see some signs of flu like symptoms, including arthralgia, i am not sure i spell it correctly. I have still the buring skin on my leg and hands...the previous incident is about 5 weeks now...Is it some thing i should worry about related to ARS? My condom covers my dick head, but there was very small scarch from the back of my dick which i believed to be happend when i remove the condom...

Best regards all

What of "You Didn't Have A Risk" that you don't understand? You can NOT get symptoms if you haven't had a risk. It doesn't matter if you have a scratch on your penis.

Nabale,

Symptoms or the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection.

In order to become infected with hiv, you have to have a risk of infection first. You did not have a risk of hiv infection. Condoms prevent hiv infection - that is why you are supposed to use them.

If you are having problems with your body, you must see a doctor. Nobody can diagnose your ailment over the internet.

You did not have a risk of hiv infection.

How are you Everyone again. Hope everyone is do'g good... It is been 7 weeks from my frist encounter with condom covering my dickhead and 3 weeks from another incident again protected sex. Since starting just last weeks, I lost almost 3 Kg ( within 5 days). And starting from Yesarday i have this very weird itching all over my face, including on my face. I have also slight headache with fever for like 5 days. I start to fear again. Is this in any way a show of my sero-conversion or am I making my self crazy again. Besides if i sero-convert on the first incident, is there any chance to sero-convert again. Both of sex was casual, the first one with drinking but the second one was not.

All the Best.

Nabale,

Protected intercourse is NOT a risk for hiv infection. You have NOT had a risk of hiv infection. You could not possibly be going through seroconversion after your unprotected encounters.

If you have concerns about your body, go see a doctor.

Nab, it's not surprising that you're losing weight. How could you not when you are so anxious and worried and probably not eating regularly?

You need to separate your thoughts and feelings about this incident from the reality of HIV science. As you have been told repeatedly, you were not at risk in this incident. There is absolutely nothing in any of the symptoms which you have related or any you may add to the list which suggests that HIV is an issue for you. Ann has correctly told you that in any case neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to know anything accurately about HIV status. Only a test taken at the recommend time (13 weeks) after the most recent UNPROTECTED incident will give you that answer.

Your symptoms are something for you to sort out with your doctor. You may very well have a virus. That doesn't mean the virus is HIV even though your mind keeps scaring you with that thought. At this point you are in a state of mind where you seem to think that anything that happens to you physically is yet another sign of HIV. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!

You were not at risk during the incident as described. I certainly expect that you will test negative.

Period.

Tnx andy and rod...Hope everything will be just as you have describe it, that it's noth'n to do with ARS...Just influenza or some thing. Hope the doxycycline will help with it. Do you guys think they might be other STD, may be syphilis to get from this incident, or better to check all STDs in 6 or 13 weeks? Of course my real concern remains to be HIV...

Hello evry one out there,

I am gett'n back with worries. It is been 9 weeks from my first incident of insertive sex ( Condoms only cover my dickhead) and almost 6 weeks of another protected sex. For the last 2 weeks I had this very weird soft stomach and diaharra, with no stocmache. I had no fever nor headache after the first 4 weeks of my last incident. As I have said I am thinking of taking a test, if I got the gut, on next week. What do you think of the diaharra about, do you think it is some thing to do with ARS?

I came back again. It is been more than 12 weeks from my first protected sex incident and 8 weeks from my last protected sex. I couldn't get a gut to check. Worries comes back to me again while I see these weird pimps in my mouse, comes and go within 2-3 days duration time. I also have the same problem in my eyes, like i have one in my left eye and then on the next day on my right one three or four times. I have also those things around my ear and faces. I am now thinking of taking a test after one month, but IS these staffs are ARS things, I don't have fever or headache this time and no sweating?

Hi every one, I took a test today and I am not positive, I am negative. They run a quick check, after about 15-20 min. the Dr. told me that the result is negative. I am not sure what this result mean (Cause it is only 8 weeks from the last incident, which was protected), but i am happy. What do you think ppl? I have heard the majority would sero-convert 4-6 weeks, mine is 8 weeks. Sound reliable or there is still a chance for sero-conversion. I don't use drugs or something..

Nabale,

As you didn't have a risk of hiv infection in the first place, you can take your eight week negative as conclusive.

You are hiv negative. You do not have hiv.

Please protect that negative status by continuing to use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions. Use condoms and avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Even if I felt some amount of shame, I came back to this site with some other worries because there is no site like this which gives accurate info. About risk assessments of STDs. Here is my situation. I had a problem with drinking and swear not to drink for some time with my consular help. After three month with out any sip, I had a relapse two weeks back. After I got drunk I had sex with a woman with whom I don't know her status of HIV. First there was oral sex with out protection. Then the vaginal penetration of about 4-6 thrusting her with condom. The condom was there at first when I thrust her, but when I finally withdraw I find the condom was not on my Penis, but rather on her vagina. The thing is at some point in the middle I withdraw and then get again. I am not sure whether the condom was slipped off at that time or the last time I withdraw. I remember also that after I came, I stayed inside so my penis gets soft. This was three weeks ago. Last week in one morning I find some discharge (a white pus) on my urethra. My doctor gets me docacilline for one week and I never see any pus afterwards. Now I start to worry about HIV. For the last three days I have a headache (Non Stop), a tonsillitis for two days, including today and a very sore throat. I have this very weird itching and burning sensation all over my body for almost three days. My temp is still in normal, I mean no fever (at most 35.6). Please any one access my risk of Contracting HIV from this.

All the best

Since alcohol and sex don't mix and you had a case of Gonorrhea then I would plan on taking an HIV test 13 weeks after possible exposure. Were you tested of Gonorrhea or did the Dr. just give you medication? There will be a need to know because some people do get NSU from Latex.

Tnx rapidrod for your reply...The Dr. told me to take a full STDs panel test on the 3 month, didn't take any test for Gornorrhea. By the way, is Gornorrhea could get by just tocuh with the infected fluid or should the infected fluid should reach the urethra?

I hate when doctors presume anything. It's to late now to know if you had gonorrhea or NSU or some other UTI. Yes get a full panel and HIV test in three months. You also should read the condom link at the bottom of Ann's post. Always remove your penis before you go limp by pinching the condom to the penis when withdrawing.

Please, A little encouraging word will be very much appricated on my risk assesement. Since I may have already exposed to STD, is that mean I will be positive on HIV too? I am gett'n very tired today and the itching is so weird. Is that mean I am seroconverting now? I am really woried.

None of the symptoms that you are talking about, have any correlation to HIV.

I am so paranoid and out of control. That's for sure we knew that from when you posted your non-risk. Seek out mental health councilling till it's time for you to test.

RapidROD, Are you saying the situation I have posted today is a non-risk situation? Or are you refering the old threads? I am in a real diallema here. I know what I have done is something that shouldn't have be done. But I am trying to get some risk assesement here. I came back to this site, becasue ppl like you and ann, andy make a good assese. on these issues. I just want to know how you guys think what was my real risk from the explosure I had from this incident and how possible it is to get HIV from the situation I brought up. I may look for mental health cousoler and to tell you the truth I am seeing some one right now about my alchol abuse. Please comment on that and all the best.

I'm talking about both threads you have started. Your non risk thread and this one. You've received your risk assessment. Test at thirteen weeks past your last unprotected exposure.

Dear All,

I know I am nagging around you guys, but I just want to ask some question. From the exposure I have last, condom slipped off (Find it hang in half out side and half in her) while having intercourse and I came and stayed some time inside her, and additional unprotected oral sex, do you know any one got infected this way from HIV? I am having very sore throat and I am tonsillies for about 4 days. Is this a seroconversion symptom?

Best to all
