Newborn (like the twilight saga)
« on: April 01, 2014, 08:39:37 pm »
Hi guys, I am new here and doesn't speak much English, I'm originally from Philippines and working here in Singapore. I call myself as a newborn, like those guys who become a newly member of a vampire family from the sci-fi film. As of now, there are only few people around me knows about my status, my depressed bf and my doctor in Bangkok. I've been so down since the day I was diagnosed (last March 15) and until now I haven't started medication due to 1 more test they need (to test my ARV genotype strain) which Dr Mattana urge me to do before treatment.
And I also found out that I have some small lumps in my anal area, which it highly suggest that I have anal-cancer, this is what really scares me (the cancer).

I'm only 24 y/o, and I have to support myself (financially) for my treatment and I can't continue to work here in Singapore as they don't allow hiv foreigners to stay, please if anyone knows a place where hiv people can work freely please help me.
Thank you.

Hi there,

Sorry that you're here but glad you found us anyways. First off, we're not vampires. Get that image off your head because it would be psychologically damaging to yourself. Although admittedly, some of us here do love a good suck. ;)

As for work, your options are Thailand, back to the Philippines, HK, Europe, and the US. And perhaps Mongolia if you're adventurous. If your EP/WP doesn't expire soon, then I suppose you have some time to think about where and how to make your next move. You can check out www.hivtravel.org for more info on each country.

Sounds like you went to Bangkok to see a doc. Its a great place with top doctors, follow their advice and you will be ok, they have years of experience with this. As for where to move, you have sooo many options as the person above already mentioned. Good luck!

Hello.  Sorry about your situation.  Just wanted to mention that the small anal lumps you mention are probably NOT cancer -- not at your age -- but could well be HPV (warts).  Get your doc to check them out.  They're unfortunately quite common, but also easily treatable.  Hope you're able to find a more welcoming place to live and work.

Hi, thanks to all for cheering me up. Yes, i've been travelling a lot to Bangkok this past few weeks for follow ups, test and now I'm going there again for the result of my test (drug resistance) and hopefully can start meds by this month.
Regaeding about the small lumps, it's confirmed that it is warts by the examiner from the red cross clinic @bkk. He advised me not to have sex (thru anal) for a month and he said it's either it will disappear by itself or I can put some topical ointment.
I'm really looking forward to move somewhere (out of Singapore) and continue my life (as a PLHIV)
