« on: July 05, 2011, 04:11:51 pm »
I have just returned home from seeing my husband. I am on meds he is not. We had protected sex until the last couple of days when he used the withdrawl method.

I feel terrible, my throat is sore and feels like a cough is coming on and i feel fluey.

I got my illness from him in the 1st place, whats the chances im getting another strain? ::)

I dont feel as bad as my initial seroconversion the 1st time but i am wondering.

I am undetectable.

Pls help

Chances are pretty slim for another strain of HIV if you are on meds and undetectable -- the few cases of being infected with a different strain of HIV that are documented are mainly among people who are relatively new to meds.  And if he isn't on meds it is even less likely.

But there's all sorts of other colds/flus/ other std's going around all the time -- why not check in with your doctor if your symptoms persist?

You can't get the same HIV twice. If he has the same HIV as 1st time round, it is not reinfection with HIV.

Thanks for your reply :-*

I dont normally use protection with him but as i have gone on meds, i thought maybe i should do now.

Wouldnt my meds protect me from his virus if it mutated? I have read conflicting things and am unsure what to believe? :-\

Matt, this is what i am trying to figure out, would his virus if mutated in his own body do me harm?

xx
