Thanks, Jim, for your willingness to assist in this worthy cause.  I have enjoyed your posts and looking forward to your future contributions.  BTW, I have been to Dublin (Ireland) many times over the years (presuming that is near or where you live).  It certainly has become a world class city.

Thanks, Dublin has indeed changed over the years. Actually I moved a while back to a small town in Co.Meath, I used to be split between Dublin & London, still I'm only a 35-40 min drive from Dublin City Center.

Thanks, Dublin has indeed changed over the years. Actually I moved a while back to a small town in Co.Meath, I used to be split between Dublin & London, still I'm only a 35-40 min drive from Dublin City Center.

Spent many weeks and months in Ireland over my life, often in Dublin but mostly in Limerick, Kerry, and Galway counties (relatives from one side of the family still live there).  Last time I was in Dublin I did manage a day trip to New Grange to visit the mounds.  Also, love the Millennium spire on O'Connell Street (you never get lost in the city:  all you need to do is look for it to get your bearings), Temple Bar, and St. Stephen's Green!  I can remember when the city was sort of dingy in the early 80's before the "Celtic Tiger" took hold.  Then it became beautiful!

I'm from Ireland, crazy is a normal state of affairs :-)

:-) Newgrange is around the corner from me so to speak, nice place to visit and walk around.  Dublin did pick up indeed, particularly when the Inner city & Temple bar area's got cleaned up.  Not sure about the spire now, costs too much to maintain.

Jim has taken to running the software like a pro already. Ann said I took it in really quick but not like Jim has … he is going to be a huge help. Its great to have a team member on that side of the pond who understands the healthcare system in that part of the world and he will be a huge asset . I cant thank him enough for volunteering.

Thanks Jim for being a new moderator here at the forums.  We have lost some very fine folks but the virus, like life itself, keeps on truckin' and folks need support, for important info, a person to lean on, to calm their fears and just to hang out and have some fun in between.  We who survive still need to and want to live on with a quality life.

I am certain you will do well...All the Irish folks I have met here in Queens and Manhattan are bright, engaging folks.  They are both knowledgeable, witty and compassionate.  We have some young folks who come here on work visas or more permanent ones and while some return to Ireland, or leave for other parts of the country here in the USA, they bring us a new and passionate voice we need as well.

In fact maybe I will head up to the Irish Cottage in Forest Hills, Queens, about a half mile or so up the road and have a beer and a burger this weekend.

Jody :)

Well it was nearly 2 years ago and around this time that I had conversions with Jeff & Wade Initially about volunteering before I became a moderator.

I wanted to share some random thoughts after 2 years of being a mod on the forum   ...

Time fly's and firstly thanks to Wade & Andy for their continued guidance and support over the 2 years and the faith they have placed in me. Also a big thanks to  Jeff. I see you lurking from time to time and hope forum retirement is treating you well  ;), I know bringing me on board was a huge step for you as you value the  forum so much and you put so much of yourself in this forum.

I've gained a lot from this experience, and prehaps one of the biggest impacts  personally is being sober 2 years of my life, being a moderator gave me prehaps the push I needed to be (more) sober as I should have always been.  Thank you.

The other is to share the good moments in life and to focus on living, i hope posting about it from time to time changes the tone, i realized that in the 2nd year we (I) was spending too much time focusing on the negative aspects when we should be celebrating and hence so many photo threads of mine in the "off topic" section when i travel and visit places, its to show that living with HIV is just that in this day and age, living. Go do something!

Of course I did not always get things right, particularly in the first year and boy I had plenty of criticism and it was a challenge at first to be open towards that. There is a "but" to that point i do not regret banning some of the long term members as i did, or being strict on keeping this civil, as much as long term members are part of the community some simply no longer offered a positive contribution to the forum. Less is sometimes more.

Anyhow, I am wishing all the member here a happy new year and I hope to hear about your adventures in 2018 and I thank you all for the continued support.

Jim
