Hiya

Sorry to hear about the reactive result and, that you are feeling unwell.

I hope you feel better soon, although fever & cough for 3 weeks should be checked by a GP and treated

Regarding HIV would I be correct in saying its reactive on antibodies test and you are waiting for lab results? Until you have your lab results in I will ask you to only post in this one thread for the time being.

Best, Jim

Hiya

Thanks for the update, sorry to hear about the warts.

Look if your dignoisis of HIV is later confirmed with further lab results than keep in mind that with treatment life with HIV medically goes on pretty much as normal.

Do see a GP in the meantime about how you are feeling like the cough, coincidence does happen, everyone gets sick from time to time regardless of HIV status but if you are living with untreated HIV you could be at greater risk of picking up certain nasty infections that are best treated early.

Take it easy, and as mentioned keeo us posted & ask any questions you have in this one thread for the time being.

We're here to support you

Best,Jim

Hiya,

Depending on where you are located but if you have access to modern drugs, than other besides a bit of settling at first, you should simply not be expecting side effects or fear any.

When do you have your next follow-up appointment with your HIV Doctor?

68 is low but not the end of the world, plenty of us have been there.
Did she give you any medication in the meantime or a date for when the referral meeting will be with the HIV consultant?

Also did she provide you with any viral load results?

Best, Jim

Hiya,

Still no Viral Load results? Look take the medication as directed, drink plenty of fluids. Its normal to have a settling in phase. Just to check is it "Efavirenz / Emtricitabine / Tenofovir" that you are taking?

With the lower CD4 count its normal to also take some antibiotics, have you been prescribed any?

Look I wish you well and, i know everyone here wants to help, but nobody can help you if you don't start answering questions. Also for the last time stay in this one thread!  I've moved the thread, but let me be clear that were done if you step outside of it again.

Hiya

Look the antibiotics are vital but can be harsh on the system, just keep taking them and keep in mind its not forever , its just until the HIV meds can suppress the virus and your body can for lack of better phase heal.  Many of us have been through this stage including myself so we all understand it can be a rough time digesting the diagnosis and taking new drugs and antibiotics.

As for the HIV meds, never taken this combo before although take before bedtime, plenty of water seems to be the common peer recommendation and you should settle in soon. I presume the doctor has informed you to take this on an empty stomach to avoid reactions.

Keep us posted, Best, Jim

Hiya

It should settle after a while but do keep an eye on it.

I personally hate getting a rash, I have the same reaction to certain antibiotics although do check it out with your doctor as often rashes look all the same but are not always caused by what we think is causing them.

Hiya,

Sorry to hear you are still feeling unwell, did you see the doctor already? Rashes & feeling unwell might not always be caused by what you think is causing it and, in your case if it is the antibiotics the doctor might be able to switch you to an alternative or offer something to counter the side-effects.

Quote
Scare people see my rash..oh....

What the concern here? That people will see a rash and somehow presume you have HIV? People have rashes & skin issues, allergies etc etc etc all the time for many common reasons in life, its not specific. Now i understand feeling self-conscious though and, most of us have been there but truth is nobody can tell your HIV status by just looking at you.

Hi jim
Do u tell ur parents bout hiv+??

Everyone i come into contact with knows i'm living with HIV, that includes my family. Its simply not a secrete but that's me and, the position I find myself.  I presume you are asking as you are considering telling people?

Look its just a private medical condition, nothing more than that. Nearly everyone at some stage in life has one or multiple private medical conditions or challenge and, you happen to be living with HIV. Now as for sharing this medical info with family etc, totally up to you of course if you want to tell friends & family can be a great source or support but they can also be a source of pain/heartache.

Also understand that you can't control peoples reaction and, once you start telling people you can't control what people do with that information or who they share it with.

If you are considering telling than there is also a lesson on this topic including a section on "Disclosing to Family and Friends" maybe it will have some pointers https://www.poz.com/basics/hiv-basics/disclosure

Best, Jim

Hiya

CD4 counts are basically stable and the same, it's also not something to stress, be sad about or something that measures your overall health.

For some people, once the virus is suppressed the CD4's shoot up and yet for others it takes some time. It's not a race  ;)

How are you feeling in general?

Quote

Yeah, certain suppliments can interact with HIV meds, always best to check before taking suppliments and also worth checking with your doctor if you even need it

I feel you, it has been a battle for me too. I started with a count of 100 CD4’s almost a year ago, the highest I have had so far is 150. Last test was back in November and my CD4 were 110. I was disappointed, because I really feel great. Before my exam in November I had a little fever for a weekend and an outbreak of herpes so I think that definitely affected my count. I have learned from here to focus on my VL and give it time for my immune system to recover.
