A little worried..
« on: December 01, 2009, 08:10:09 pm »
A couple of weeks ago, I took my daughter to the pediatrician, (she is HIV negative), but I found out that she may possibly have a heart murmer.  Well I am taking her to a children's cardiologist tomorrow.  I have had my freak out yell today at my fiance.  Really what is bothering me is this appointment.
So I decided to write down what has been bothering me for the past two weeks.
All she knows is she doesn't have to go to school tomorrow!  She's in sixth grade.  She wants to be an artist, she is pretty good at drawing.
Well tomorrow she has an EKG and echocardiogram.  Hopefully I remembered those words correctly, I just leave the refferal in my purse.  I do not want to forget anything.
I hope this is not some serious health concern.  But if it is I guess I will just follow the doctor's instructions.
Writing this out has made me feel more relaxed.

Bleu, I'm not a heart speciliast, but I've heard of kids that have heart murmurs, and I believe they can live pretty normal lives.  If I'm wrong, I hope someone corrects me.

Don't panic right now.  You need to hear the cardiologist out, and be calm for your daughter.  I'll be thinking about you guys.

Thanks for responding, today I found oput it is a murmer the doctors call an innocent murmer.  It means that it will not change anything in her life except it can go away when she becomes an adult.
She is going to have a colesteral check in another month, and treadmill test.
She is fifty pounds over weight and I am hoping I have the strength to do what I have too.
I need to be a stronger person, take the dogs for that twenty minute walk everyday.  She needs twenty minutes a day excercise.  And to get her grades up.
When I worked, I let my mom watch my daughter and she was fed burgers almost every day.
I don't know what's right anymore!

Bleu, I'm sure you have it in you to do what you have to do.  Mothers are exceptionally strong people.  Just have confidence in yourself and your abilities.
