Hello and thank you for answering my question in advance. I know you are very busy so  I will make this quick. I am a heterosexual male in my thirties and I live in the US. I have tested negative for HIV and all STIs as part of my yearly check up and since then I dated one girl only.  I had a few encounters of protected vaginal intercourse which I think is no risk for HIV. My concern is She gave me unprotected oral same day I shaved down there, I nicked myself at the base of my penis and I am pretty sure her saliva came in contact with this open skin. I showed her my test results and asked her to get tested so we can be safe. She tested and brought me the result which were all negative for HIV and STIs, as far as I know she hasnt had sex more than 6 months before we been together so I am assuming her test is conclusive, but again u never know. I do however know that she is not promiscuous and that she didnt do drugs or anything of that sort, she is also a white female in her late twenties if that helps.

I am now afraid that I have contracted HIV from these 2 or 3 encouters of oral sex (i am the insertive) and one of which she had saliva in contact with my open cut from shaving at the base of my penis. I left her and been single for almost a year now as I am very scared .

Dr. Bob says that insertive oral is a very low risk (not a NO risk), he is an HIV doctor, do I need to get tested over this considering my extenuating circumstances or shall I move on? Please help ease my fears and this is taking over my life. Thank you for all your help.

Mike,

Forget Dr Bob, getting a blowjob is absolutely NO risk where hiv is concerned, no matter what sort of shaving details you can think of to add.

Not only is saliva not infectious, it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. Not one person has ever been infected while being blown and you won't be the first.

You and your girlfriend would be wise to both get tested for not only hiv, but all the other STIs once you've been together for three months. Provided all your results are negative (and from what you've written, there's no reason to think otherwise), then and only then should you have anal or vaginal intercourse without a condom. And only if you are actually monogamous.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

Thank you very much for the prompt response. I am sorry but I didnt mean any disrespect to you or any of the experts here. I just thought that since Dr. BOB  is an HIV doctor he know what he is talking about, I mean what is the reason for him to lie and say low risk if it is actually no risk?

As I mentioned in my post, I left her almost a year ago and I am now single. She did test and showed me the results before we stopped seeing each other and it was all negative and according to her she hasnt had sex almost 1 year, I ask her several times about her sexual history or if she has any STIs and she said she tested 6 month after the last boyfriend she had and she was negative and then she tested one more time because I requested her to do so. So shall I get tested over this or no? This is the only sexual contact I have had. Thank you again.

sorry I forgot to mention that I asked her all that before we even did anything and made sure I asked her several times before we are in the heat of the moment.

Mike,

I don't know and I don't care why Dr Bob says no risk actions are low risk. You'll have to ask him yourself.

If you have any doubts about your hiv status, the only thing to do is test. However, based on what you've said, you have not had a risk.

It's up to you whether or not you test. Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse you've not told us about, I fully expect your result to be negative.

Thank you Ann for your answer. I appreciate everything you do here. As I mentioned to you the only risk i had was the unprotected insertive oral with a cut in the base of my penis from shaving with a girl who got tested after and showed me the negative results.
You are still asking me that I have to get  tested, does this mean there is a slight chance I caught HIV if she was lying about last time she had sex and she might be in her window period with high viral load?

I just want the truth cut and clear, I don't want to get tested if I don't need to, however if there was even the slightest chance then I would prefer to test. Thank you and this will be my last question.

Mike,

You do NOT need to test over a blowjob. The cut doesn't matter as not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank u ann 4 the answer, sorry I'm usin abbreviations since I'm logged in thru my phone.
Ive a follow up question,I just had 2 canker sores & they are very painful and also have 2 pimples on the side of my neck, Ive never had pimples there Be4 and don't have greasy skin.Any chance this could be HIV? I made an appointment with my dr., do I need to ask him for HIV test over my insertive blowjob incident with a cut fron shaving at the base of penis, or should I just move on? I am not sexually active for almost a year since that incident and before that I tested negative conclusively for stds and hiv. Your answer is much appreciated and thank you.

Mike,

Just because you never had a pimple in a certain spot before doesn't mean you can't get one now. Shit happens.

As I've told you again and again, getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection and you do NOT need to test over it!

If this blowjob is your only incident of sexual activity since you tested conclusively negative, then you do not need to be tested now.

Once again, use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

Helli again Ann and experts. I'm going to get tested tomorrow at my primary doctor, I know the results will take a few days. Any slightest chance I will test positive for HIV based on the information I provided? Please be honest to me, iam already freaking out.
Thanks again,
Mike

Reread the replies Ann has already given you. You were never at risk of contracting HIV from a blowjob.

Mike,

Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse you haven't told us about, there is no doubt about your negative result.

Getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection!!!
