Vacation !!!
« on: July 15, 2006, 10:34:24 pm »
Hello All !!,

It's been a long year !! I finished up work Friday morning, and I am now officially on vacation. Both of us are. I don't have to be back to work until the 31st, of July. I have managed to accumulate 207 hours of vacation time (PTO) this past year. I don't really use it that often, and fortunately I haven't been sick, where it is also deducted.

I've decided to let Home Depot put the new hot water tank in. So they will be here Monday morning for installation. I just wasn't up to it. But did manage to save almost, 400.00 dollars, from the original estimate.

We're going to  drive down to Key West this week, and just relax. We both certainly need it. It has been a trying year for the both of us. I am looking forward to lying around the pool, and getting out and enjoying some night life for a change !! ;)

We will most likely leave on  Wednesday, and probably return Sunday, so if you don't see me around, you know we will both be safely sunning ourselves, in sunny, summery, Key West.

Have a great time.

All you need now is a cheap trashy novel and a cute pool boy to bring you drinks!

Change of plans !!,

It's too hot even with AC to drive 8-10 hours or so down to Key West, so we've decided now to go to Daytona Beach instead, and get a motel on the beach. It's a heck of a lot shorter driving distance, Can have just as much fun, and relaxation on the Atlantic side.

Will leave tomorrow morning.... And I will take pictures, lets see if I can figure out how to put them up here...   :P

Hi Everyone,

Well ,We got back from Daytona Saturday afternoon. It was certainly an experience !! :P The drive there went very well. It's about 150 miles or so to the other side of the state, from the Tampa bay area. Typical construction on areas of I-4, slowed us down on occasion. When did they raise the speed limit to 70MPH?

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GAY BARS ?  After we settled in, and relaxed a little bit, we decided it was time to go out and hit the town. There were two bars on Main street, that we used to go to, and to our surprise, they were now vacant lots !! BUMMER !! >:(

We didn't bring a directory, so, we didn't have a clue as to what/where the gay population, goes to in Daytona. ( I got a feeling everyone goes to Orlando !)

Ed asked the motel clerk, but he acted as though he didn't hear him. (He had a co-worker next to him, and perhaps he was afraid to answer) We didn't push...

We go back into the room, and Ed says, now what. I said I will call a cab company, they know where all the gay bars are at. So, I call beach taxi, and sure enough there is one place in town, on the beach, called the Streamline Hotel. So I look their number up in the directory, and call, I said are you the only gay bar on the beach? He said "we're it "

So we made our way to the Streamline.( about 6 blocks south of us) It a typical 1940ish, 4 story motel, that has two bars within it. one of them is up on the roof. ( I kidded with Ed, wondered how many people got hammered and went off the railing. or worse yet, how many people got thrown off !! ???
It was nice to see a security guard on the property.
It was a very small bar,(roof-top bar) very beachy with the locals being the main customers. They were renting rooms within this building.... 3 nights for  $89.00. But we already had our room, and I do not believe that the owners supplied bottles of A-200 to their customers :-\  Afterwords...

They had a nice downstairs bar, which did some pretty good business on Friday night. Friday night was drag shows and male stripper night.  :D  We had a great time !!

The Atlantic Ocean was wonderful. Lots of good waves !! and plenty warm, but not as warm as the Gulf of Mexico. But We really enjoyed the waves ! :) Did some excellent body surfing !! Pulled my shorts off one time !  ;D  You don't get waves like this in the Gulf that often.

The Motel we stayed at,( and have stayed at several times throughout the years) is going to be demolished, along with a lot of other buildings on the beach. A lot of these older Motels, haven't had the upkeep through the years, and the storms and the salt air have taken it's toll on these buildings. The bigger chains are purchasing up all the property, and of course CONDO"S come along.  >:(

The Boardwalk along the beach, is pretty much gone. You can still drive your cars on the beach, but it's becoming very limited, and they have a lot of the beach access roads shut down.

We had a great time....and we are still on vacation, till the 31st of the month. I have a few pictures that we took. But I am not sure if I know how to put them up on the forums. Sooo, if anyone can give me advice on how to do this I would appreciate it !! I can even show ya a Little bit of skin ;) If someone wants to private message me that info, that would be great !!

And finally... As I was placing the suitcase in the the back seat of the car, I apparently twisted myself the wrong way, and managed to in-flame my sciatic nerve OUCH, OUCH.I realised as I was twisting myself, that I should not be doing it this way. Fortunately, I have some anti- inflammatory medication, and I am now getting some relief.

Take care-------Ray

Ray,

Sounds like you had a good vacation.

Its a good thing that you had the meds for your sciatic nerve!

Glad you had a great time and that you are safe and sound at home.

Enjoy the rest of your time off.

Hugs
Teresa

P.S. hope to see some pics!
