Today I started Triumeq!

It's been a bit of a journey, I was diagnosed a couple of months ago, applied for residence and got on public insurance here in Mexico. I should have had meds a week ago but there was some sort of budget issue here and it took a bit longer to get my meds approved. I picked them up this morning and took my first dose! 

In Mexico, there is a national HIV/AIDS program that covers everyone, even nonresidents can get coverage for 90 days. The agency that provides this service is called CAPASITS, they are under the public insurance program Siguro Popular.

I'll have my residence shortly and I'm super happy to be on the meds I feel are best for me and that they are provided at no cost.

Hopefully, I won't have any side effects.

      ojo.     Hello there, I'm sorry about you diagnosis but I am glad that you are getting treatment.I just came back from Mexico City, I went to help a friend of mine from COLOMBIATo get treatment for himself,We went to the condesa clinic.He had all kinds of bloodwork and medication.

OK about your medication I don’t know if the doctor told you, you have to watch out for a bad rash,  if you get it call your doctor immediately.  You are not alone anymore you can Count on us. Please let us know how everything goes good luck

Sorry to hear of the diagnosis and hope you are coping well.
I am quite recently diagnosed and managed to quickly adapt to the fact I have what I have.
I am also on Triumeq started in late December and can honestly say that now 4 month after starting I do not have any issues.
Viral load came down very quickly.
CD4 rose sharply.

I hope you have a similar experience.

First, I am sorry for your diagnosis but also try to look at it from the other side, a brighter one in which you will be more health aware about yourself. You will take the responsibility and lead a full healthy life.

I am on Triumeq and it is a good medicine. First few weeks you may feel dizzy with weird dreams and night sweat. But this will fade away shortly. Your doctor should have conducting a test (HLA typing test) in which it indicates that your genetically fine to take this medicine.

Yeah glad to hear you have started treatment, like others mentioned after a bit of settling in prehaps you should be fine and not expecting any issues.

I've been talking this combo myself like candy once a day for years

My Dr had me take the genetic marker test before she'd prescribe, so I'm good there.

This is my 8th day on Triumeq and the only side effect I've noticed is I get a bit sleepy sometimes during the day.

I have a very good attitude about my diagnosis. From my perspective, from all the things I guy could get diagnosed with, in his mid 50's this is a pretty good one to get. Better than: Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, lupis, ect. Once in treatment, as long as I respond well, not much downside and a normal life expectancy. Just an awkward conversation with new partners on occasion.

In addition, I eat well and exercise. I also do what my Dr tells me.

It could be so much worse!
