Welcome RV!

Sorry you're here but glad you found us. Easier said than done, but try not to be scared. There are many people on this site who will let you know how incredibly low, single-digit even, their CD4 counts were---and they are doing fine after meds and good self-care.

In fact, if you get to prowling around the site and past threads, you'll find stories that will build your confidence up.

I don't know if you are in the US--if you are, try to have a good holiday weekend. If not, have a good weekend.

Em

Hi...

Welcome...

I started with a CD4 of 8. VL was a half million. Not sure what your VL is but getting it  undetectable and keeping it there is usually the primary goal.

Hang in there!
Diagnosed in  May of 2010 with teh AIDS.

PCP Pneumonia . CD4 8 . VL 500,000

TRIUMEQ - VALTREX -  FLUOXETINE - FENOFIBRATE - PRAVASTATIN - CIALIS

Numbers consistent since 12/2010 - VL has remained undetectable and CD4 is anywhere from 275-325

I have a buddy who started with 20 cd4's many years ago. Today he is happy and healthy and has the energy of a horse.

Just take your meds and listen to your doc and you will be just fine.

  Hi RV .

Don't worry too much , I know it is all new for you .
I was there 8 years ago when I went to Full Blown AIDS with 101 T's , I have been on anti virals for 8 years now . All is well .
It took time to deal with  the feelings . I tend to be an anxious man .
You will more than likely  not get any opportunistic infections this week .
I also know of a couple people that started with either 1 or zero t's and are doing fine .  The treatments now really knock the virus on it's ass quickly .

Glad you found our great site ,

Welcome and I was in your boat in March and now just 6 months later I am at a CD4 of 474 and a VL that is undetectable.  Just stick with the meds and things will come around.  I know the fear and the panic but remember stress is also bad for your counts.  One day at a time.

Hugs

Hang in there.

After years on medications I made the silly decision to go off the medications and then...

About a year ago i had 10 cd4's and about 40 KS lesions. Within a short time of restarting medications my viral load was undetectable
As of about 2 months ago I have 100 cd4s. The KS keeps fading/ reducing although I'll probably have the scarring for a long time.

Once they get your Viral Load under control you'll probably bounce back faster than me because your nadir (lowest) count is a lot higher.

Hang in there,
big  hugs
