Truvada/Prezista/Norvir with alcohol

Hey everyone!!!

Since Christmas is arriving and all the celebrations are starting, I was wondering, can I drink alcohol?? right now im on truvada+prezista+norvir, I've been on my combo for only 6 days, ive been having problems with my stomach so im worried if I drink it could get worse.

My dr. told me i should avoid alcohol, though i don't have any problem in my liver...

2 or 3 beers or whiskeys could be dangerous?

any comments would be very appreciate! ;)

Bruno, a little moderate drinking is not going to cause any trouble. I'm on the same combo and alcohol isn't a problem.

The only possible problem is if you're drinking heavily and often, and it's causing you to miss doses on a regular basis.

You might want to try taking your meds earlier in the day so you're clear of them when you want to have a drink. If you want to be cautious, go slow with the alcohol your first time and see how you feel.

Don't forget that you're supposed to take this combo with at least a snack. I've taken it on an empty stomach a time or three and it can make me a little nauseous. Could not eating with your meds be the underlying cause of the "problems with your stomach"?

A good rule of thumb - all things in moderation - including moderation!

I'm also on this combo along with Intelence.  I haven't had any issues combining it with alcohol.  Just had a huge party this weekend where I handled my own.  :)

As long as your liver functions are fine, it's probably ok to enjoy a cocktail or 4.  You might consider limiting yourself at first to see how you'll react.
