About a month ago I set up a 2nd email account.  I did it because my primary address is my name and well there are sometimes I want to email more annonymously.

About an hour ago I attempted to sign into my hotmail account and received a notice that it had been closed.

Because it "appeared" I had violated the terms of use.

Good lord what could I have possibly done?  How do I fix this?

For the life of me I can't imagine what I've done on that account that violates the terms of use. 

Anybody got any ideas?  Anybody had this happen to them?  Am I going to prison or something?

Dunno R, but HotMail has a terrible reputation, not just for summarily closing accounts, but for being frighteningly susceptible to security compromise and malware.

My advice is that you ditch HotMail altogether and create a Gmail account. Click this.

I've never had any issues with a hotmail account, but I also never had two hotmail accounts.

See if this can give you any info:

I do like Gmail though.  Something to consider.

Matty's right - Hot Mail sucks.  They closed one on me out of the blue about 7 or 8 years ago and that was it for them, as far as I was concerned.  I had some important crap in there - at least it was at the time.

ever tried a yahoo account? I've had a couple since 95 or 96 I think. One, that I really should clear out somedays, is stuffed with over a decade of porn. :D

idk...I've been getting a lot of spam lately claiming to be from att.sbc that if I did not sent them a list of personal info including my password, that my account would be closed...


I'm not sending anyone my password for any reason so I never responded...that was 6 months ago and I still have my account...


I have a Hotmail account (or maybe I really don't) and Gmail....I've never used the Hotmail, the Gmail is for business that I'm not too comfortable with...or that send tons of messages.... ::)

I've never had a problem with my hotmail account.  AOL was terrible.  Hotmail keeps all that spam away from me, while AOL always seemed to invite it.  I have a gmail account now, because I had to create one with my EVO android phone.  I thought about switching over to it, but hotmail has been good to me. 

It would be interesting if you could send hotmail an email to ask them why.  That may be more time than you want to spend on it.  I would be curious why I violated their terms of use.  I got a message that I violated photobuckets terms of use, because I posted a nude photo.  They didn't cancel my account.  They must have software that looks for penises.

And apparently you'd be right.   ;)

Seems as though I violated their code of conduct by sending some . . . .um er. . . .well. . . .certain kinds of photos.  If you know what I mean.

They've restored my account.  On my promise I'll never do it again.

My only question is, how do all those guys on C's list get away with it?  That's pretty much all they do.
