moving to a new state and getting my paperwok transfered
« on: September 09, 2010, 04:15:48 pm »
I was just diagnosed in april or may... cant really remember, and my CD4 count was 205 so they immediately put me on atripla. I dont have any type of insurance and i make a very small living, so i was approved for all of my meds to be covered by the state of texas, and all my blood work and dr. visits are covered by an agency.
i just went to my parents in new mexico which is where i grew up to let them know what was going on. in just 3 months i have already brought my CD4 count up to 436 from 205 and my viral load from 90,000 to 444.
After visiting my family i realized that i really wanted to move back home to be around my family.
my question is how difficult is it transferring states, what loop holes or lapses in state coverage should i look out for, and does any one know how NM HIV programs compare to TX.
i just dont want to move there and suddenly find out that funds arent available for my dr. visits, blood tests, or whatever else. can anyone help or tell me where to look and who to ask.

foreveryoung, I have sent a private message to a fellow board member who works for an AIDS Service Organization in northwest New Mexico asking that he reply to this thread, so hopefully he will so by this evening.

To wit, here I am!  ;D

I am actually at work at the moment, but if you will wait a bit until I get home, I will answer more fully.

The bottom line is you shouldn't have too much to worry about. We have pretty good programs here.

I would go further here, but I have a PC at work and the type starts to jump when I post here.

So, I will be in touch a little later.

HUGS,,
Mark

at the end of the IE address bar is a little icon of a "broken page" click it (to fix the compatability) and the jumpy page problem will stop ;)

Ah, thank you. I will try it. It drives me crazy, which isn't a long trip!  ;)
