Royal Wedding Thread
« on: April 20, 2011, 08:31:55 am »
Ok I started it. Have fun!

Here's a start: Everyone is wondering what Kate will wear - which tiara, veil, etc?

What about balding Prince William?
A couple of years ago, I thought he looked nice with a beard and a kind of combover.
http://images.huffingtonpost.com/2009-01-07-beard.jpg

Is this real, or photoshopped?
http://www.moxieq.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/prince-william-balding.jpg

I think he should just get a crew cut.

I see the Diana pretty genes still fighting it out with the horsey fugly Windsor genes, cause sometimes he still looks quite handsome.
http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/dec2010/3/0/prince-william-zurich-450-pic-getty-418761454.jpg

______________

I wish them all the best. I'm glad they bothered to get to know each other and live together and really hope this marriage will be a happy one, and they'll become King (and Queen?).

Neither Charles nor Diana could deal with open marriage.  Open marriage is probably more the norm than the exception among royals.   Charles was in love with Camilla and Camilla wasn't OKd to marry Charles, the first go round.  What a pity.  He really loved her for the long haul!  Instead, two broken marriages and a lot of pain and suffering all around.

I wonder if Prince William stood up to all of them and said, I'm doing it my way, the modern way, living together before marriage.  Or do you think at this point, nobody cared what he did?

She would really make a fashion statement if she wore this handknitted cocoon dress, designed by Yves Saint Laurent:

Looks like a knitted dildo with a face and pointy shoes. Could be interesting.

Harry is a total hottie probably because Charles ain't that baby's daddy. Unfortunately poor William is looking more like a Windsor day by day.

With this family's previous relationship history, you wonder if it's going to last.  I mean he's already dumped her once.

You just know it's gonna go horribly wrong.  The silly moo just needs to get herself up the duff quickly.  That and get some new clothes and burn the Granny outfits she wears.

As the fluttery twits who covered Charles and Horseblanket's event cheeped, that would be "O, bliss!"

I was looking forward to this.  Now I'm sick and tired of it.  I may take my friend's offer to go up to his place in Scotland, where apparently, they could give a rats ass about the Royal wedding.

Or come to the Rock. We don't give a shit either. The only people I know here who are at all excited are the ones who are getting a day off due to the special wedding bank holiday but not one of them plans on watching.

It's my daughter's birthday that weekend too and she's coming home for a visit. We could all go out on the piss together. :)

Well I started the thread cause I like me a good "Media Event" with all the PR ratfuck hoopla.  Doubt I could sit through it.

It might be fun to have a lunch and make fun of it, kinda like watching the Kentucky Derby. You don't really need to watch all that much.  My Grandma always invited people over to watch that, which is a snore except for the race itself.

I am a bit intrigued by it all but will only see excerpts of the hullabaloo after the event is over because it occurs while I am away celebrating with a friend on his birthday.  Their day in the spotlight will be over soon enough and London can get back to 'normal'.

As far as royal events go, I doubt I will watch Charles become King but when William does, I will make a point to see that event.

I've decided to throw a 5 AM English-themed "Cottaging Party" in honor of the Royal Wedding, complete with attendees wearing tiaras and having tea with spotted dick.

ps: I'm ever so happy to know that Mr. Bean will be attending.

I'm burned out already, too.  They say we Americans are obsessed with the Royals.  I'm tired of all the reports, interviews with Royal Watchers, Today Show I-Pad app.  It just seems like they could use that time to talk about Darfur or the Ivory Coast??  Or, HIV/AIDS.  Just flipping through TV 20 mins ago, I saw promos for NBC's, ABC's, and CNN's specials before Friday and live coverage to begin at 4am EDT here on Friday.

If William had only married a dude, we would not see all this special live coverage, endless talk about it, primetime specials.  They would mention it on the news, but nothing more.  If only he were queer.  Wonder what would happen if he were gay?  Would he even be allowed by the Queen to marry or whatever they call gay marriage there?  They certainly couldn't get married in the Church, right?  I'm sure the UK paparazzi would follow his man-lover, but I doubt any American networks would be interested in flying crews over to cover it.  I woke up today to "Morning Joe" set up on a London street doing their show there for the rest of the week.

Well no he wouldn't be allowed to marry another man. As an heir presumptive (and indeed a beneficiary of the Civil List) his potential marriage partner must be approved of by the Queen because he's a future Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

In fact according to the Act of Settlement she (Kate, his future brood mare) can't be a Cathylick. She can be anything else, except a man or a Mary Worshipper.

Yes, cable was the worst decision we ever made.  Well, 2nd worse.  We went with just rabbit ears until about 4 years ago when we got an HDTV.  We actually use to read---imagine that, and watch tons of PBS.  I think canceling it would be the best thing.

You do wonder if the Ex-Mrs Gareth Thomas is taking all of this coming out the closet shenanigans as well as he says.

There you are married to the muscle bound guy.  Admittedly, he won't go within ten feet of your vage, but he looks good.  And stepping out with him, you can keep up the pretence that he's pummeling you on a regular basis.

Then it all falls apart, he comes out, gets lots of press coverage and congratulations.  And then. just to add insult, he gets an invite to the Royal Wedding.  I'd be fuming.

Anyway, I saw CBS setting up outside the Tower of London over the weekend.  So am getting dolled up and heading that way to see if Katie Couric will buy my story that I blowjobed Prince Harry.   Worth a go.

According to Sports Illustrated, Thomas was notable as the world's only current professional male athlete in a team sport who is openly gay,[1] although cricketer Steven Davies and footballer Anton Hysen have since come out.

Anyway, I saw CBS setting up outside the Tower of London over the weekend.  So am getting dolled up and heading that way to see if Katie Couric will buy my story that I blowjobed Prince Harry.   Worth a go.

Well, Katie announced today she is leaving the anchor chair at CBS.  Reportedly, she is close to announcing a daytime talk show to fill the Oprah void.  But, I'm sure she'll be in London for the wedding and may be interested in booking you for the new show.  Let us know what she says.

Well, I've been watching some of the coverage this morning.  So, Kate's brother is gay?  Do they call us gays, poofs over there?  I got that vibe and then I heard commentators say he was caught wearing a dress.  And what's up with the way he gave the reading?  He seemed like some character in Star Wars who was evil.  And, why do the commentators keep calling her the future queen?  Phillip is not called King.  I don't understand all the titles and why William just got 3 new titles.  So, Diana was called princess because Charles is first in line and that's why Kate won't be called princess?  Will Harry get this kind of wedding?  Is it suppose to rain here in Louisville?

I'm not interested in the wedding so much as how things work.  I'm more interested in the cars they arrive in.  I like those almost full sunroofs that cover the whole top.  Doesn't seem good for security though.

She's pretty why wouldn't her brother be cute too?

Kate lost too much weight in my opinion. I don't like a skinny English woman. They should be fleshy.

The "Ferguson" princesses have great English figures but what the fuck were they wearing?  Tarty is not eccentric.

Someone should have slapped Becks for wearing those WHORE PUMPS to a royal wedding.  My god she looked awful and like she was squeezing one hard bitter black doody in her butt cause she'll never be a princess herself. Nasty.

The Queen looked nice.  I liked her Top Hat.  If she had put on some ancient priceless black pearls, hmm....

I loved most of the british hats.

I have since seen a few nicer pics of Becks.  Yes Beckham looked smashing.  What I called her whore shoes are Louboutin but just too dominatrix for my tastes.

The Horchess of Cornwall is what she is, thats for sure.  She and Kate are BFFs they say.

Hahaha...that line is classic BM! Santi was very pissed that he couldn't watch his morning news; this was even on the Spanish-language channels.

But we are watching some Dateline-type show now and it seems like it was a very nice affair for those looking forward to it.

also loved this: Lady Amelia, Lady Eliza and Lady Kitty

I liked David's look with the tie with the collar up and not covering the tie around the neck.  I would like to see that become common.  His wife does always look hateful.  She may be very pleasant, but she always looks like she is pissed-off about something.

Whoa... no honeymoon for now I read.  Wills has to be back at work on Tuesday.

I also find it lame how folks are already pointing at Kate and saying she's too thin and on the road to Diana-ish bulimia nervosa.

I remarked that she was too thin without even thinking about Diana.
I just imagined she lost the weight as many woman do, for their big day.
I hope its not a long-term eating problem.  She is too thin, in my opinion.

I wasn't singling you out -- I was going by commentary on TV/press yesterday. It's quite normal for a woman to diet before squeezing into a tight waisted wedding dress.

I'm sure she'll want to stay thin(ish) from now on anyway as she'll be photographed constantly. She's never been fat in the first place.  I think she looks really great.

I know you weren't talking about me, rather the media.
I was saying I hadn't thought of that connection to Diana.

I liked her fit and sporty, more than thin and chic, which is still attractive, of course.

As I said i like a plumper princess. Though she isn't a princess of course....

Princess Letizia (of Spain) is too thin, for example.

I loved watching it; the pageantry, the clothes, the hats, the uniforms, the horses....I loved seeing the cars and coaches.  Queen Elizabeth knows how to travel; notice, she always dons the lap blanket when in any vehicle.

Sir Elton looked 'pained', as if he had on a real tight girdle that was uncomfortable.  David Beckham looked great, even though his medal was worn on the 'wrong' lapel...his wife always looks like she smelled something bad.   I think the Queen and Prince Philip are incredible, for their age.  That was some brooch she was wearing.

I thought Kate's dress was perfect, very Grace Kelly...it did seem to me that she had on a little too much base and blush though...looked good from a distance, but up close a bit harsh.

It's wonderful that they can pull off such a 'mob scene' without incident; of course, here all the nut jobs are armed so it's not so simple....

Well, I would have loved for someone to jump and yell out "Genital Warts" when asked if anyone has reason why the two should not be married.  That would have made for a good show.

All the commentators keep saying Elton was late and didn't wear the appropriate attire.  Well, they said it was okay, but not exactly "traditional."  The men were given a few choices of suit styles and I thought his fell into that category.  Is it because he and David wore color in their vests?  I don't understand why some keep saying that.

I still say Kate's brother looked possessed and evil when he gave that Bible reading.

LOL... from today's White House press conference detailing more on the bin Laden raid:

link

3.06pm ET: Oh dear. Giles Whittell of the Times of London asks Jay Carney if President Obama will tell Prince Charles – when he meets him later this afternoon – that he wants to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Silence falls over the White House press briefing, until Carney says he wasn't aware of it. And then everyone else returns to asking questions about Bin Laden, as if the whole unpleasantness never happened.

Prince Harry's Wiggle Worm

Such a sweet story and I love catching a glimpse of Camilla's motherly side.

I've long felt sorry for her and Prince Charles. They should have been allowed to be together years ago. In a way, it reminds me of my own current relationship. Events disallowed us from being together years ago, but we're back together now where we belong.

I'm really happy for Prince William that he got to marry the woman he loves, instead of marrying due to pressure to produce an heir like his father was. Heart-warming stuff, whether you're a Royalist or not.

You and I have different opinions about what is too thin. I like skinny people but worry when I see people who look much too thin and not like their normal selves.  Kate was a healthy looking lovely young lady.  She looks much too thin now.  Perhaps it was the pressure of the transition to royalty and she'll soften back up a bit.

Some people respond to stress by eating more and some respond to stress by losing their appetite. Maybe Kate is one of the latter types. If she is, all the media scrutiny of her thinness is not going to help matters. I hope she manages to adjust to life under the media microscope.

Even though I come from a family of stress over-eaters, I lose my appetite. My mother-in-law always has too and we used to worry that she'd starve herself to death after her husband died. Luckily she regained her appetite before she got too thin and she's still here fifteen years later. I used to joke that we should slip the old girl some pot brownies - maybe that's what Kate needs? ;D

Maybe she just did the typical bridal diet and now, one month later, has decided after all of that hard work that she's not going to overeat. I read she uses a personal trainer, and I'd not be surprised if she has a regular nutritionist. Not every thin person has an eating disorder you know, no matter how much that makes obese folks happy to think so. I mean hello, what else does she have to do all day but use the gym and shop for organic food?

But you're right Ann, stress does do that -- I too lose my appetite when stressed.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

If she's not stressed now she'll soon be after being hounded like this. Love that UK press!

Sheesh. "Like most brides, the Duchess of Cambridge shed pounds ahead of her wedding to Prince William last month - but it appears her ten-day break in The Seychelles did little to increase her appetite."

Yeah, maybe like most brides she and her new hubby were too busy in bed to bother with stuffing their faces - with food, anyway. ;)

The writers at the Daily Hate Mail sure are a bunch of losers.

Zaclee.  And it's not like she was going to come back looking like Rose O'Donnell after just ten days.  They are soooooo objective.

I think I may have been correct in my assumptions. From The Mirror; Wills told island staff: “I’ve had the best diving I’ve ever experienced while I’ve been here. It has been amazing. We have had a truly magical time."

And of course we all know he's talking about muff diving! ;D

Not sure if any of you follow kenneth in the (212) but this 'interview' with Wills and Kate was posted last month.

Well, for the record, I don't think she has any sort of eating disorder.

Now, Fergie's daughter looks like she might have an eating disorder.  She just looks too thin and has those really sunken eyes.  I looked like that in my late teens.  I would eat less than 1,000 calories a day and people started worrying about me.  I thought I looked great.  Looking back at pix of me at that time, I look sickly.  I know food has been a huge issue with her mum.  I could be wrong, but she just looks like she is really restricting food.

Don't you have anything better to do than peruse the Daily Hate Mail? Jeese, I live over here where I can pick it up across the street from my house and I don't bother. Me thinks you need to get a life, Missy. ::)

Hey, check this out. That place was a block from me when I lived on Houston from '92-'95.

Looks like my kind of place! Too bad they're closing, but what a fantastic deal for the current residents. I vaguely remember seeing a place like that back when I lived in NYC in '84-'85, but my memory could be playing tricks on me. We lived at 99th and Broadway, but we often frequented that neighbourhood as we had friends down there. Good times!

I still don't understand your obsession/fascination with the Daily Hate Mail. I wouldn't use that paper if it was the only paper in the house and I ran out of TP. ;D

I read the article. God Bless that old codger who will get to stay on his corner for 10 bucks!  He should stop complaining about how the city has changed. Of course cities change, and he's a lucky boy to be able to stay!
