Bowling
« on: October 08, 2006, 08:07:46 pm »
I went bowling with some friends recently.  We decided to bowl a few games before going to dinner.  I had a surprisingly good time and bowled a few good games.  Anyone else like to bowl?

Hello Jeff,

I haven't been bowling, since 1997. I remember that year very well as that was the year I decided to get out of the bowling business. I started in the business in 1973, and then worked for AMF Bowling Corporation. Used to install lanes, machinery, resurface lanes, and install automated scoring systems, first in New york state, and then throughout the southeast. But, In 1997, after 22 years, enough was enough, and I got into a different line of work.

I was chief mechanic in one 50 lane center, and it used to piss me off, when the bowlers would bowl like shit, and blame the mechanic for it. I mentioned this a little while back( to Trish I believe) Bowling is the only sport I know of, where you can be legally drunk and participate in. ;)  League bowlers were sometimes out  for too much blood and guts, and when they bowled like crap, they would always blame the guy that oiled the lanes !( too much oil, not enough oil, yada, yada...  :P.  I can tell you stories about bowling alleys !! :o

However I always enjoyed going out to the center, and doing some karaoke in the lounge. Bowling kind of took a nose dive, in the late 90's. Poor marketing. Couldn't get enough young people to join in a league and commit to a 34/38 week bowling season. However, I believe it is making somewhat of a comeback.

I might bowl a again someday. I think my average was about 180!! We do have a couple bowling centers down here that have gay leagues. I think that moonlight bowling ( or moomlight madness)- different centers call it different names, is real popular...

Take care-----Ray
