Missed one dose
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:15:47 pm »
I missed my dose Truvada / Reyataz / Norvir yesterday.  I've been 100% adherent up until yesterday (8 months on meds, 2 months UD).  I don't think it will happen again, tho I am kind of freaking out that I let this happen.  Do I need to worry, or are the drugs just forgiving enough that I can forget just this once and still be ok?

You should be fine, how long was it in between your doses?

Don't panic too much - many of us have done that.  With your level of adherence, you should not have any problem - just resume your regular dosing schedule.

I am not on the same meds as you, but have read other posts by members on those meds who have missed a dose (I think one was pretty recent) and they were told just to resume regular schedule.

I'm on Atripla - have been for about 9 months - I've missed it about 4 times over that period with no adverse reaction.

I'm sure others will also provide some insight as well.

I take the same meds...

I stupidly missed my dose on day 4 after starting due to bad planning, and resumed the following day.
No missed doses since then.

I would have felt alot better if I it had been 8 months like you before missing a dose, not 4 days LOL, so I think you've done well so far and can relax.

Peace...

google "hiv 95% adherence" and you'll see that most studies show that ≥95% is best for "optimal virologic suppression". missing one dose isn't the end of the world. just don't let it happen again for a nice long while. ;)

I wouldn't make a habit of it but it should be fine. Some people such as Shawn Decker, who blogs on Poz.com, takes his meds (which are the same as yours, Reyataz/Norvir/Truvada) one week on, one week off and is doing well.
