Swollen lymph nodes caused by HIV, do not have pain.

Umm I am going to have to disagree with you on that one.  My lymph nodes are still swollen and do hurt sometimes...especially in my groin area.  I pop Motrin almost daily for it.  :-\

Which is why we say that symptoms are no indicator of your status and they vary greatly from person to person.  GENERALLY the lymph node swelling associated with ARS are NOT painful.  But again, that can vary from person to person as well as depending on how much that particular person continues to poke and prod at those poor little bastards.

There are a MULTITUDE of reasons for swollen nodes scared.  You messing with them continuously is the most likely candidate followed by stress and then a viral infection of some sort (NOT NEC. HIV).  You are waiting for your result, keep busy and try to stay off of here.

Sit tight and await your results.  They will tell you conclusively what your status is.  Not your lymph nodes, or anyone elses.

Leave them alone and wait on your results.

Your head is gonna get pea shaped if you don't leave your body parts alone! No kidding!

Instead of more of this self-torture over endless details that give you no answer, how about getting yourself back into being productively busy in your life. Right now!

Your waiting time is winding down. We think you're going to get a negatve result.

Now, get busy and I don't mean with squeezing your lymph nodes.

My neck was bothering me last night so I put my hand on the very back and finally felt the swelling it's different from under my chin which are returning to normal and dont hurt anymore at all. I'm not sure if its the lymph node thats why I want to know how they feel on the very back of the neck.

Im actually trying to convince myself its just muscle swelling.

LEAVE THEM ALONE.  You are doing nothing but making them worse.  Try not touching them at ALL for a month.

scared,

This forum does not exist to tell you what lymph nodes feel like. If you're concerned about your nodes, the only thing for it is to show them to your doctor and discuss it with him/her.

I went got my results today and they were NEGATIVE on both parts of the test. I was so happy I had to hug the nurse. But i'm very relieved. So now i'm just thinking about when the next time I should be tested to make sure. Had unprotected on 1-13-07 and tested on 3-29-07. I think thats a little over 10 weeks.
Thank you to all of you guys for your support ! I really do love you all ! Andy, Rapid Rod, Ann, and Acinkc you guys are the best.

Well I was surprised and i'm so happy. I had pretty much convienced myself I was positive so it wouldnt have been a shock if I had it.  Actually last night I had made up my mind I wouldn't even go get them. But when I got up today I was like lets just get it over with. It is what it is.

So is there a need for me to retest ?

10 weeks is EXCELLENT.  13 weeks is conclusive.  That being said, your result is HIGHLY unlikely to change in the next 3 weeks.  HIGHLY unlikely.

There is no test for "AIDS".  AIDS is a diagnosis that is eventually caused by the HIV virus.  YOU HAVE TO HAVE HIV TO HAVE AIDS, hence no AIDS test.  It's the same disease just a different stage of it.

I had a hiv test at 10 weeks that was negative but I am scared to go in for the 13 week test. I have a question. I had symptoms at 7 and 1/2 weeks after unprotected sex where the female bled and i want to know if usually when the sypmtoms occur is that when the hiv would show up in the blood? Am I scared for no reason?

If you received a negative at 10 weeks then your 13 weeks will follow those results. You've been told many of times that symptoms don't mean crap when it comes to HIV. Only the test results matter.

As you ought to know by now after coming here for three years, neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms will ever tell you anyting accurately about your HIV status.

If you have had a genuine risk for the sexual transmission of HIV such as specifically unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse or you have shared needles for intravenous drug use, only an HIV test at 13 weeks can give you a conclusive answer about your status.
