I have noticed that a lot of websites list "purple lesions" as an early HIV symptom. Are they referring solely to KS lesions or is there a different type of purple lesion that can occur early in HIV?
Most info on KS suggests that the lesions are a late symptom of HIV and an indicator of AIDS.
If they are referring to KS lesions, how early can these show up...or what is the earliest these have been documented? days, weeks, months?
Can one be infected with HHV-8 and HIV from the same sexual episode?

Kaposi's Sarcoma is not exclusive to HIV positive people and it is not an "early" symptom of HIV infection at all.
Many things can cause purple lesions. Not all purple lesions are KS and, in any event, diagnosis of KS can only be done by a doctor.
Which is why we don't discuss symptoms in any meaningful detail. Is there are particular risk event you would like to ask about?

Thank you for your response...I value our opinions and taking the time to educate others.
I am male, my only exposure was 8 weeks ago with a female stripper of unknown status. unprotected receptive oral and 10 seconds of unprotected grinding between her labia (extremely wet).
symptoms, although we don't go in to detail are:
fatigue (social recluse, not having energy to do things i would normally do)
abdominal pain starting 5 days after exposure and still present
4 nights of night sweats 4 weeks after
headache 7 weeks after for 2 days
just noticed large dark purple streaks on back of both sides of tongue (not sure how long they have been there or maybe everyone has these?)
black and blue tint under eyes
mild weight loss
sensitivity to cold
no fever, no rash!
whuddya think? should i cough up the 50 bucks for a 12 week test? (alchohol was involved) <----it's Bourbon st for crying out loud.
howbout testing for other STD's?

As this is an HIV specific site, I will primarily address your risk for HIV.
Essentially zero.
There has never been a documented case of HIV being transmitted through giving oral sex to a female.
Nor has grinding/frottage ever transmitted the virus.
Syphilis? Gonorrhea? Crabs? Herpes? HPV? Yes to all of those. But not HIV.

just to clarify, when i said "receptive oral" i meant receiving oral from her...i can see how the two can be confused...does this change anything?

No. In the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a single confirmed case of transmission to a guy through his receiving oral. It's safe to say you are not going to make history by becoming the first. You are worrying needlessly.
Do yourself a big favor and stop surfing the net about HIV because you are mostly going to only find misinformation to feed your worst fears. And all to no good purpose.
This time out you have no cause for further concern nor any need for testing for HIV. If you have troublesome symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

Thanks again for your response, i just want to clarify one thing...which was my original question...there are a lot of websites that say that purple blotches under the skin or inside the mouth are a symptom of HIV. are they referring solely to KS lesions or are there cases of HIV where purple lesions show up when KS is not present?
are KS purple blotches the same as the purple blotches they are referring to? i mainly want to know if there are other things that cause purple botches than just KS...
and although very rare to show up early, KS can show up at ANYTIME during the HIV infection...right?

You need to knock off the self-diagnosing and have a doctor look at your blotches. It could be anything, but one thing it can't be is hiv related. You have not had a risk for hiv infection.

We don't discuss symptoms here. ONLY the correct tests at the correct time will tell you your hiv status.

thank you, i won't post anymore links...apparently there is a lot of misinformation out there.
so you are saying... that even if the head of the penis was in between the labia and that the urethra was grinding directly on the inside the labia with vaginal fluid present. and even if that vaginal fluid made its way directly into the urethra that there is NO RISK at all for HIV infection and that there has not ever been a documented case of this happening?
and HIV testing is not warranted?
how far does the penis have to go in to make it a risk?
wow, i feel ignorant...if that is true, i might break this sober streak and drink a beer

What you are describing is called frottage, and frottage is not a risk for hiv infection. I had a negative partner for over eight years and we regularly engaged in frottage. He's negative to this day yet we only used condoms for intercourse. And I don't know of anyone else who ended up positive following frottage either.
Unprotected, full vaginal penetration is a risk. Frottage is not. The vaginal fluids that may contain viable hiv virus are found deep inside the vagina.
Here's what you need to know in order to remain hiv negative:
You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.
To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.
Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.
ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.
Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

that's a relief to hear...this whole thing has been a wake up call. i have been experiencing some abdominal pain for 8 weeks and some other weird symptoms as well, and i think they just came at a bad time and when i realized the timeframe they came about, it dramatically increased my worries.
i will do a comprehensive std test at 13 weeks because of my symptoms (i may not be outta the STD jar just yet) to be sure i didn't pick up something else...i will share my results for the education of everyone else.
I can't stress enough how awesome yall are that run this forum...i remember learning so much about prevention in school. it's amazing how a little alcohol can throw all of that out the window. NEVER AGAIN! I hope i can find a way to use my life to help and educate others as much as you all do.

last question, super quick...if she was also infected with hepatitis or another std...could this make HIV transmission possible in this scenario?
i found out today i have an enlarged spleen...my bilirubin has been elevated...kinda scared

No. Sorry about your enlarged spleen. That is not an HIV specific symptom.
I really hope you get to the bottom of your medical issues.

9 week test negative for hiv hep b hep c...damn...now i have to worry about the other scary causes of enlarged spleen
