I'm undetectable! Yay.

Hi Everyone.

So, today I had a visit with my doctor. And I'd had my bloods done 3 weeks after starting Truvada/Dolutegravir.

She said "here, look at this."  Yup, on the screen, <40. UD.

After 7 years since diagnosis, I am undetectable. I cried.

I really feel empowered now, and grateful cause of the history of people that got me here.

Congrats ! It is enormous peace of mind knowing you are on a working combo that's kicking HIV's nasty butt.

Congrats! 

What is the recommendation for labs, following starting meds.  I've heard others say 4 weeks, to make sure the viral load is going down and the meds are working.  My doc said 8 weeks.

It varies by what I've seen.  6 weeks, then 3, 6, 9, 12 months is pretty common here; with an extra at 2-3 weeks if you're just out of the hospital or they're watching other labs.  My doc scheduled another blood draw, (no office visit) 4-6 weeks after I switched meds.

Congrats.  It's awesome what these new meds are doing.  It amazes me how brilliant the scientists are in studying this nasty bug and then coming up with great ways of beating it.
Have you been struggling with getting UD?

It depends on the doc.  But I'd say 4 weeks if all is going well.
