Frottage risk
« on: February 25, 2023, 10:52:42 am »
I had an encounter with a man about 2 weeks ago. He claimed he was HIV negative and recently tested, but im skeptical. I performed very little oral sex and no pre-cum was present from what I can recall. He preceded to get on top of me and started masturbating our penises together (frottage). I ejaculated first then he ejaculated and I believe his cum may have gotten on the tip of my penis and in my urethra. I have been driving myself crazy since then going down google rabbit holes and have been very anxious which has caused me to lose my appetite. Am I at risk of contracting HIV from this encounter?

Even if they tested on the day you met and showed you the results, it would be meaningless to you due to the window period and various other reasons.

The frottage and ejaculation wasn't an HIV risk to you.

As for giving a blowjob, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect, and saliva also neutralises HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells. It's such a minute HIV risk that it doesn't warrant testing outside the standard yearly screening.

Move on with your life, use condoms, and as you are sexually active, get a yearly HIV & STI screening.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim

Just an update. I was very anxious and got an HIV RNA Early Detection test done 18 days after exposure and it was negative. Doing research there seems to be conflicting opinions if 18 days enough to be conclusive. I’m thinking of getting a 4th gen antibody/antigen test, which will be 40 days after my encounter

If you had had an exposure that needed testing i would have mentioned to test with an HIV blood-draw (Lab) antibody test, and at the correct time, not RNA.

Anyhow, i'm not going to entertain that you need to test over the concerned incident, not even under the guise of reassurance, as that would be a grave disservice to you and the community.

Move on with your life.

P.S:

I wish you well, but if you post about this again, I will consider it excessive and issue a 28 day ban.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.
