Hiv antibodies production
« on: January 04, 2019, 01:20:36 pm »

Tested with the 4th-generation HIV AG/AB test 4 tims after exposure.
At 29 day test was unclear/inconclusive
At 44 day negative
At 90 day negative
At 189 day negative.
I question all the negative tests because how come the 29th was unclear and then became negative? Is it false negative? Could it take more then 6 months to detect hiv?(i dont have immunodeficiency, undergoing Hep-C treatment, or taking Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and also during all the 6 months i did not had another exposure

Hiya,

What exposure?

False reactive results happen all the time, cross-reacting antibodies etc etc etc.

The way to see this is, screening tests are oversensitive to confirm a negative status outside the window. Any reactive result is not a diagnosis and simply means follow-up testing is needed to confirm.

You have a conclusive negative result post whatever exposure you think you had, relax and move on with your life.

Here's what you need to know to avoid HIV infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, every time, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about taking PrEP as an additional layer of HIV protection

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as 'safe' in terms of HIV might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please get tested at least yearly for STI's, including but not limited to HIV. Test more frequently if any condomless intercourse occurs.

Note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and, the only way of knowing is by testing.

Kind regards

Jim

You have conclusively tested negative, whatever symptoms you have it's not HIV from this encounter.

See your doctor and treat whatever is making you sick.

When Hiv symptoms occur does it mean the body is making antibodies? So when an hiv+ person have symptoms is he for sure will test positive? Can some explain the antibodies production process?

Not exactly.

We have an innate immune system and an adaptive immune response to infections. Antibodies are part of the adaptive immune response. Their production is triggered in response to infection when other cells that fight infection send out cytokine, a hormone that can cause some symptoms.

For example, the interleukin-1 (an inflammatory cytokine) for developing the killer T cell response also affects the brain resulting in fever etc.

Anyhow, more to the point, a lot of people have no noticible initial symptoms and when there are initial symptoms they are not HIV specific. So symptoms are not a good indicator as someone may have HIV but not yet developed symptoms or antibodies at a level that can be detected and, any illness could simply be in response to another infection.

Hope that helps answer your question, however, If you had a possible HIV exposure it's simple, forget about symptoms and test to know your HIV status!
