Penile cancer ?
« on: May 25, 2017, 07:01:21 am »
3 days ago i felt a little pain in the head of my penis, just a slight register as i walked and things moved about as they do.The following day it was a little more noticeable and so i had a little look at the head of my penis,JUST to the left side of the opening was a small bit of raised redness. So i did a little research and found that penile cancer is raised risk for those who have had HPV,which i have, and HIV.Since then of course i cant stop thinking about it and its making me extremely nervous.I have an appointment on monday so will show it then if it hasn`t settled down.
i just wonder has anyone had any experience of this ?

Hey P,
I wouldn't worry too much about it, could be damn near anything down to simple irritation. Just see the doc and put your mind at ease.

It's almost certainly not that. Penile cancer is very rare and when it does happen - which isn't often - it's usually when men are getting into their senior years (I don't know how old you are). Even then, it's rare.

Glad you are getting it checked out, but don't spend all weekend worrying about something so unusual.

Thanks Wade and Cavey as always..wish we were all in the same country, then at least i could come round and wash your dog or walk your car. ::)

Its one of those research moments where you skirt around problem but never hit the images button..then you weigh the emotional burden against the number of sleeps between then and Doctor`s appointment(3 month vamp due monday)..and hit the images button anyway. No cancers are good cancer but please, just not there.
It`s a relief to hear its very rare and while i`m 52,HIV has a genius for softening you up emotionally and psychologically so that your expectations tend toward the gloomy.

Hope all well with you two, thanks again,P.

Why are you going to wait 3 months before seeing your doctor about this?

Hi Harley, perhaps i phrased that badly,i meant i have my 3 month bloods to the vampire this monday, where i will mention it anyway. As it happens after lathering the thing with antiseptic cream for the last number of days, the pain and sensitivity seem to have gone.

Cheers anyway Harley,P.

Stop googling everything you see, feel or imagine.  It is human nature to focus on the worst possible scenario and then worry unnecessarily.
I will bet that you saw a whole host of other possibilities for this "small bit of raised redness", most pretty benign.  However, you seemed to have focused on the extraordinarily rare one -- penile cancer!!

If it is truly bothering you, go see a doctor - of course, I don't know how easy it is to access a doctor where you live.

Little update here - former complaint appeared to disappear..then reappeared post Docs appointment. So i did the probe it and pinch it and pick it routine but the offending black dot at the tippy top of the glans of my penis would not budge.I smothered it again with pseudocream and distracted myself with the apparent world on fire.I continued the on again off again relationship with the black dot, being careful not to give the thing too much scrutiny for fear of recognising some de facto malignant uprising.
The reason for my tentativeness was the other big issue i was dealing with which is low testosterone, which turns man into boy and boy into coward..so i went on with a view to bringing it up with the Doc at the next soon to be visit. As the Docs appointment drew in i got a little braver, having calculated the days in terms of worry quotient, and so i found myself down the side passage of my house, where the day light comes in on a bright day, with an antique magnifying glass(long back..LONG BACK !) and a cup full of courage..it did not look pretty.
And so what of all this palaver ? Well, and thankfully,it`s nothing to worry about.Doc says it should resolve itself and not to worry about it but those with hiv and hpv are at an increased risk of anal and penile cancer.
I guess the moral of this little story is to act soon, act rationally and get checked often. My road gets to continue and today i`m f******g relieved.
